I have just discovered Superfish window shopper on my computer. How do I gert rid of it? I have run Spyhunter but it's still there. I tried to uninstall it from my control panel but no luck there. Help please!

Superfish window shopper is usually installed with a browser add-on, you might be able to disable it separately, but you may have to remove the add-on that it was installed with (what add-ons did you install around the time it first appeared?)
for Firefox, click on Tools >Add-ons>Superfish Window Shopper. From there, you can disable or uninstall. You should then restart Firefox. for IE, Click Tools>Internet Options, click the Programs tab, then Manage add-ons, click on the Superfish add-on in the Name list, and then click Disable. Right click on the add-on and click More information, click Remove to remove the add-on. for Chrome: in the browser, go to Customize (the wrench icon on the right) > Tools > Extensions, search for Superfish, FastestChrome, Read Later Fast, or 2YourFace and then click > Options, uncheck the Add Similar Product Search feature. from Superfish - "If WindowShopper does not appear on your list of add-ons or programs, you are probably receiving our functionality through one of our distribution partners. In that case please go to the respective Options menu to disable the price comparison feature, or if you have questions please email us at info@superfish.com. " - which means you should be able to disable it within the Add-on it was installed with, or you'll have to install the entire add-on the problem is figuring out which one it was installed with. |

I have no idea where it came from. My son informed me that I had it. I don't know where or when it occurred. But I looked at my add- ons and it is not listed. It is only listed as an option to install it.Firefox is the only browser that /I use. Well, I checked in "My Computer" folder and did a search and found it. So I then checked in my programs and I uninstalled it from there. At first it seemed to stall so I thought that it hadn't been deleted. I then deleted the folders in My Computer and restarted the computer. As far as I can tell it is now gone. I did a search and came up with nothing. So problem solved(I hope!)
Thanks Roby! ![]() Another question. What are the symptoms if I do get it again? I noticed nothing really out of the ordinary except my Firefox browser seems to kind of jump and then hesitate while scrolling. Would superfish cause a problem like that? Everything else is working just fine. But now the scrolling is working good now too! Thanks again!

i wouldn't think it would cause a specific problemlike that, but it could cause various slowdowns as you browse becuase it is constantly sending information back about all the sites you go to and how you got there.
the best way to make sure it doesn't come back would be to be very carefull when installing anything, always check out what all the options are and research before installing another thing that helps is to install the NoScript extension - it blocks all Javascript and lets you whitelist the pages you trust. |
