Default Punished

My 14 year old nephew lied to me so I made him stand in the corner for
45 minutes. I said are you going to lie to me again, he said No Ma'am.
Do you think standing in the corner is old fashioned? I think it worked.

What 14-year-old willingly stands in a corner, especially for 45 minutes?

I'm thinking back to when I was a freshmen in high school and if one of my relatives told me to do that I'd laugh in their face.

... but if this worked, I guess good for you.

All politicians should stand in corners.

Sometimes the punishment works sometimes it don't. I remember when my aunt heard my brother using dirty words and shoved a bar of soap in his mouth and asked him, " How do you like that? " He said, " That tasted like sh@t "

I'll bet that was a lie also.

In my household punishment for cussing was a spoonful of Tobasco, and no water for 30 minutes!

what's funny his friend Justin came over and they were playing video games and my nephew said a bad word to Justin. Justin made him stand in the corner for a hour. Justin said are you going to cuss again and he said No Sir.

You did the correct thing. Standing in the corner (or "Time-outs) are the ONLY kind of punishment for a child allowed in New York City. If a neighbor reports that you physically hit or beat your child to ANY degree whatsoever, the policy is to remove the child from the home immediately, THEN start the years long investigation into whether or not that child will be allowed back into the home of the offending parent. Here if you punish your child and someone makes an anonymous call to child services about it, you had better have a great lawyer or you'll have one less mouth to feed.

Now it's friends putting their friends in the corners now?

... and what person calls their friend "Sir"? What's going on here?

You are more nicer than my mother. If I got out of line I got spanked. Yeah we had corporal punishment in my home, and beilive me, I learned.

I would assume they are around the same age? This sounds very bizarre to me. Is Justin saying "Sir" or your nephew? I'm confused.

I never heard of peers punishing each other like this, if that's what's going on here. Discipline should be the parents' job, not their pals.

The 14-year-old needs a babysitter? I'm confused on who is who.

Oh please, enough with the nonsense. Surely there are other ways to amuse yourself than to start threads and play people for fools. Anyone who is buying this claptrap should stand in a corner for 90 minutes and write 100 sentences.
