When Lucy and Ricky bought their home in the country the show seemed more interesting. Loved those episodes but I hardly see them. The re-runs I see just have them in the apartment or California.

I liked the Country episodes, but I think the ones in New York were better. But the one where Lucy and Ethel had the eggs in their shirts was one of my favorites.

Actually, not really. The only really good one was when they went into town to see that play. Oh, and the country club dance.

I like the New York episodes more......... The country episode I like is the one with Lucy and the baby chicks. That's my favorite country episode.

I like the country episodes, but they're not my favorite. (The California stuff is what I love the most, and I also think a lot of what they did in the apartment was better.) The antics are still funny, but there's an older quality about the actors that comes through on the show, kind of bogging it down in a sense. It was no longer "fresh" at this point I think, and Lucy and Desi both started to look tired and worn out. Even though it's mainly behind the scenes stuff that I'm referring to here, I think it sort of spoils those later episodes a bit for me.

Well yeah they were okay but I liked the ones in New York better. The Country episodes just aren't as good in my opinion.

This is my first time watching most of the episodes of I Love Lucy, and I've enjoyed the country ones. I've seen an occasional I Love Lucy episode over the years, but I don't think I have ever seen the country ones before. As my first impression, I like them.

Since it's only my first time seeing most of the episodes, I haven't had time to analyze any of them past a first impression. I'm sure once I've seen them all at least 5 or 6 times through, then I'll be able to compare them against each other. The first time through, I don't see them being much different then the rest.

The only thing I've noticed is that it seems TV Land has skipped some episodes lately. I first noticed it during the California episodes. Has anyone else noticed this?

I haven't been watching them lately, but that doesn't surprise me a bit. They skip episodes (sometimes like 3 in a row) of everything they air. It's stupid.

Not really. I've never liked the Connecticut episodes very much. The NY episodes were the best.

Talking connecticut shows

I liked about half of the connecticut episodes. I
didn't care for baby chicks and eggs episode. I do agree one of the better ones is when the gang went to NY to see a show. Dennis the Menace's Joe Kearns was in that episode.

I don't really see the change in settings as significant at all. When they began the traveling sequences of shows, that seemed to indicate that ideas had begun to run thin for new plots based in a NY apartment. So being on the road, in Hollywood, in Europe, in Florida increased the possibilities. But the setup was always the same anyway-- conniving Lucy, with partner-in-crime (sometimes literally) Ethel, Ricky who finally gives in, and tight grumpy Fred. All the country eps did was increase the means to same end; they just added a few devices such as chickens and eggs, the historical society, the lawn mower...
