Various Writing Styles

If you pay attention to who wrote each episode you can start to see parallels between some of the episodes by the same writers. Has anyone else noticed this and who are your favourite writers?

Also, I noticed that the episodes done by Elroy Schwartz (Sherwood Schwartz's son) tend to be less well-written; the plotlines don't make as much sense, the jokes aren't as funny, and worst of all Gilligan is portrayed as much more stupid and the other castaways are too harsh on him.

I don't think I really have a favorite writer on the show

They're classic, but in my opinion they're not as clever as the rest. The Friendly Physician used to be my favourite, but now I've realized it's an odd one out and is much more bizarre and unrealistic than the rest.
And notice that the others are overly mean to Gilligan in You've Been Disconnected. At the beginning Skipper calls him a knucklehead who screwed the whole thing up. Ginger lists a whole bunch of his faults, and in the end they blame him for wrapping up the cable even though that was a good idea.

I still like these episodes, but they usually fall closer to the bottom of my list.

I completely agree about the unfair treatment of Gilligan in You've Been Disconnected, even though I like the episode.

I've always found it odd that three wonderful first season episodes
(Good Night, Sweet Skipper and the two Wrongway Feldman episodes 5 and 24)
were directed by the great film-noir actress Ida Lupino.

Catch her in High Sierra, On Dangerous Ground, They Drive by Night, or Road House.

Who knew they were Gilligan's training grounds!

I wonder if they considered other famous serious directors.

A GI/Hitchcock crossover- what a genre mashup that would be!!

Richard Donner cut his directorial teeth on Gilligan's Island and also John Williams the movie music man.

Gilligan's Island has so many awesome things about it.

Wouldn't that be funny to hear in Two on a Raft when the Skipper hits the shark with a paddle?
