Default The Brady Bunch?

Furley was complaining he was missing the Brady Bunch like it was on network TV at the time. lol Couldn't the writers have included another family show in the script like Happy Days since the Brady Bunch had been off the air for 8 years?

By the way Furley was talking it sounded like the show was current.

That's like one of us in 2012 complaining about missing a episode of Everybody Loves Raymond

TV shows back then weren't near as easy to access as they are now. Syndication was a real treat since people who were often too busy in their lives to catch the shows when they were current, could now catch them in syndication.

Cool

The Brady Bunch was very popular in syndication at that time. In fact the syndicated reruns were more popular than the series had ever been in it's original run. It was in reruns that The Brady Bunch acheived the cult status among TV fans that it still enjoys to this day.

I think the reason The Brady Bunch was chosen was to show Furley's desire to return to his youth or be youthful again. He certainly liked hanging around with the kids.

I think it was meant to be funny, you know , like an older man wanting to watch the Brady Bunch! lol I dont think it would of been as funny if he had said Bewitched or I Dream Of Jeannie.

I agree with you. Furley was portrayed as a character who thought he was "hip" and "current," when he really wasn't. I think his watching a show like The Brady Bunch shows just how out of touch he was with current popular culture. You saw those outfits he wore and the decor of his apartment!!

By the way, there is NOTHING wrong with watching The Brady Bunch!!

There is an episode of Newhart when he turns on the TV and it's the theme song from The Bob Newhart Show playing. They should have done something like that just once.

Wish they could have had Furley compliment Alice when he referenced the Brady Bunch LOL
