True but they weren't mainstream until MTV debuted. The only time you saw one on tv was when it aired on shows like Don Kirshner's Rock Concert or The Midnight Special which is where I first saw this one in 1976.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s Filmation did several Saturday-Morning Cartoons (The Archies, The Groovy Ghoulies and The Hardy Boys), which had musical interludes featuring the charactures in them. . IMO These were the forerunners of music videos.
