You more than likely heard on the news today that former U. S. Senator George McGovern (Democrat-South Dakota), who ran for President in 1972, passed away today. The first thing that came to mind was the episode "Politics As Usual" in which Kevin and Winnie were campaigning for Mr. McGovern when he ran against Richard Nixon for the Presidency, trying to unseat him.
Which raises the question: Were the writers Democrat-leaning? McGovern won only one state and the District of Columbia in '72, making one question why they would campaign for him in the first place. (Neal Marlens and Carol Black were gone.) The episode aired right before the 1992 election--when Democrat Bill Clinton beat incumbent George Herbert Walker Bush. Things that make you say hmm... |

OMG! The first thing I thought of was this episode as well!!!!
The first time I saw it, I was a child and didn't know who McGovern or Nixon were. Plus, I was in Canada!! ![]() It's funny how big of an impression TV can really make on a person and how much you can learn from TV. I don't care what anyone says, you can really learn from television...except for maybe shows like Jersey Shore!
