"Community" Production Halted After Chevy Chase Drops N-Word

There's more drama for "Community". Production on the NBC sitcom was briefly shut down Friday after Chevy Chase dropped the N-word on set, TVLine reports.

According to the site, Chase has become increasingly frustrated with the direction his character, bigot Pierce Hawthorne. The actor reportedly snapped over new dialogue and said the racial slur.

Though his African-American co-stars Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover were with him at the time, the epithet wasn't directed at either actor or at any person in particular, according to the report.

Nevertheless, production was temporarily halted until Chase formally apologized to the cast and crew.





Chase is known for his hot temper on the "Community" set. Last year, he publicly clashed with creator and former showrunner Dan Harmon, which resulted in a profanity-laced voicemail from Chase being leaked.

More recently, the "SNL" alum said that joining the quirky comedy was a "big mistake."



"Community's" fourth season was supposed to premiere the same day as Chase's latest outburst, but NBC delayed the show's return last week and has yet to reschedule it.

Though NOT a fan of Chevy Chase's politics (He called George W. Bush a "Dumb ****" during his administration...but Bush to me is a Neo-Con, NOT a true Republican)...He was in a funk at the time.

It wasn't when Michael Richards was in The Laugh Factory...but people DO expect to be respected. Man/Woman, Straight/LGBT, Religious/Non-Religious, White/Black, Rich/Poor, Normal/Disabled, Democrat/Republican...this list goes on...It's like a song Kenny Wayne Sheppard wrote...

i am a big fan of Chevy's old movies and SNL days, and I love him on Community - but he is just being a dumbass.

first he was all bent about Dan Harmon, and constantly bitching that he's under-used or that he should be the main star of the show; well DH is gone and by now he should realize that the show is a true ensemble and he is well-represented in every episode - except for when he is being a bitch and they have to change the script or leave his parts out because he refuses to participate.
