I am now addicted to watching Roseanne because of the real life topics on the show and I'm hearing things on this show I thought I would never ever hear on a sitcom. LOL Things i was too embarrassed to tell my mom at the age of 13 but Roseanne made a episode of it concerning DJ. The Cosby Show was funny but Roseanne was better because it wasn't afraid to have episodes about serious topics
It was the 1990's version of All in the Family LOL Roseanne Rocks

If presented with that choice, I would go with The Cosby Show.

I loved both shows and I don't necessarily give one the edge over the other. The fact is, I was raised in a household much like that in Roseanne. Neither of my parents were college educated; my mom had my sister when she was 18; both my sisters had kids when THEY were 18. My parents worked paycheck to paycheck and struggled to pay the bills. (The show when SUBSTANTIALLY downhill once they won the lottery.) I could relate to the characters, see myself as a sort of "DJ" (because he and I are about the same age).
I loved The Cosby Show, though, for the exact opposite reasons. It was exactly what my family wasn't as far as culture (though my family was no less loving). By watching the show, I got to escape the many issues that existed living in a working class household. I don't give either the edge -- both are great ad go down as two of the better shows in the history of television, in my opinion. (Though, as I said, I really believe that Roseanne terribly jumped the shark after the lottery win.) |

The first 5 or 6 seasons of Roseanne were the best. I have to admit that when both shows were on, I looked forward to Roseanne more. TCS was better in the first couple of seasons. Afterwards I watched the show mainly because it came on before ADW. lol

I don't have a favorite between those 2 shows. Both in my opinion are below average-average--at best.I consider them watchable but that's about it.

I prefer The Cosby Show.
I didn't start liking Roseanne until I was much older and actually able to understand the situations.

I choose The Cosby Show. I came across a deal on Amazon a couple of years ago and got all the season's at 5.00 each. They crack me up!
I always loved watching Roseanne's show but I stopped after her latest remark where she said she wishes everyone who eats at Chick-fil-A would get cancer. That was uncalled for! Just because she doesn't agree with Chick-fil-A is no reason to wish Cancer on anyone! Years ago I had a wonderful friend named Bobby, his nick name was Boots and he was Gay, sweetest person I have ever known, he died from AIDS. My point is just because we don't agree with something is NO reason to wish death on others. Roseanne has been a little nuts in the past so it's nothing new but to me, this was going too far. |

Roseanne because I think it's funnier. I grew up watching both shows, but it's like the Cosbys are the family I wish I had and the Connors are the family I did have.
