Up until today I always thought that after Freddie's death, it was established that Chico had left Ed's garage to go into business with his father. That's what happened according to The Complete Directory To Prime Time Network And Cable TV Shows book. I've known this book to be wrong about a few other things, but not with something as major as this. I was on you tube today and I found this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5n-O...eature=related. Ed states that Chico died.

when Freddie first died, the show did not handle the loss of the charecter Chico well, thinking they could continue on they left wrote it in the storyline that chico went to work with his Dad, but they did eventually run a two part episode where Ed tells the "new chico" that the original chico had died |

They said he went to visit his father but in the later episode Ed tells Raul that Chico died.

To be fair I think Chico and the Man was in uncharted territory. In years past when stars would die, a lot of shows would ignore it. This was especially true with shows from the 1960's. I remember watching the show where they finally said that Chico died. It was one of the last episodes.I think the fans needed closure and I applaud the producers for finally giving in. Freddie deserved to be remembered.

They should have changed the name of the show to Ed's Garage.
You can't have Chico And The Man without Chico. |
