"Happy Endings" Scoop: Jane's Ex Comes to Town — But There's a Twist!

"Jane's ex is a pleasant surprise at first. Then I don't like it. Then I love it. But then I hate it. At the end of the day, I'm like, damn."

That is how Damon Wayans Jr. says his "Happy Endings" character reacts to Jane's (Eliza Coupe) ex coming to town.



If you're wondering why he has such mixed feelings, it's because Jane's ex from college is — wait for it — a woman!

Briga Heelan -- best known for playing Grayson's baby mama Holly on "Cougar Town" — will play Ryan, the ex who comes to town in Episode 10, aptly titled 'The Ex-Factor', TVGuide.com has learned.





In the episode, viewers will finally get a taste of the Jane who tested the lady waters in college.

"We have established that she dabbled, but Brad didn't know that it's going to be a girl, so that is the surprise," "Happy Endings" creator David Caspe told TVGuide.com at Tuesday's Paley Center event celebrating the upcoming premiere of the ABC comedy.



Ryan's arrival will cause quite a bit of drama for the couple, especially since Brad went into the impending meeting with hatred in his heart.

"Brad is upset," Coupe says. "Hates my ex, sight unseen. That's actually a line. But my ex has all the same body parts as me. Jane had some college fun times."



Coupe teased some of those fun times.

"We don't ever make out," she says, "We just get in wet tank tops together. Who doesn't love that?"
