Default The spinoff debate is now over when you watch this clip at 8:21?

In the episode the Checkup Florida states she was a maid in the past but never said where and said it in a way like it was before she met James. Now since James picked her up at Maude's most of the time wouldn't she have said this instead?

"And when I was Maude's Maid, forgive me, I was the best damm maid there was"

So the way she said it in this episode is like james never knew she was a maid in the past and that she had to bring that to his attention.

So that's it, it's nothing else to debate now

She does make it sound like being a maid was in a time in her life before she knew James.

No, because before she was Maude's maid she was a maid for someone else. Maude wasn't the only person Flo worked for.

^ That was Henry's wife Florida, not James Evans' wife Florida.

Come on, she could have said, "you know when I worked for Maude"

Why would she skip her previous employer and talk about someone else?????????????????????

Who speaks that way? Come on now. Be for real. Even you know that sounds ridiculous.

Because she stopped working for Maude during that same season

So of course she would mention Maude

No she wouldn't, because she was a maid period, it doesn't matter who she worked for. When I was 16 I worked as a cashier (even though I didn't work there a week) at a fast food place, right after that I was a cashier at a clothing store and at a hair salon. Now, if I was having a convo with someone about working in retail, I would say that "I was the best Cashier there was". I'm not going to name every company or even the last company that I worked for as if I'm reading a resume.

I hope that you don't have aspirations of becoming a script writer, because you would not make it.

She did sound like she was talking to James about her life as a maid before she knew him. Otherwise, she would have said "You know when I was a maid, I was a damn good maid." But she didn't mention anything about him knowing her history. It did sound like she was explaining her past life to him.

I would think that as long as Flo and James were married, he would have known that she was a maid in the past. Also when you're having an argument with something you make key points. And it did not sound as though she was releasing new info about her past, she was getting her point across. Your explanation is the weak one. You do not go around saying your past employers by name if that is the only particular line of work that you've done in the past, especially in an argument.

AND, if YOU think that she should have said Maude's name, AND if YOU think that she sound as if she was JUST letting James know that she was a maid in the past. Shouldn't James have said or asked "You were a maid?".......He did not say that because he ALREADY KNEW IT.

The point I;m making is they had not too long left Maude so if that was the case then her name should have been mentioned. She didn't have to say and WHEN I WAS A MAID like it was 10 years ago.

It was 4 months ago

Umm Sir, You are acting as if they were in real time. You should know that sitcom time and real life time are two different times. Also it still would not have made any sense for Florida to say Maude's name.

And with that I'm done because I have to get up early in the morn'ting, got's to praise my Jesus.

It was during the same sitcom time, 1973-74 TV season

Good Night.
