Default Seasons 6 is no longer allowed to be shown in any building I live in

Just saw that it stated in the beginning of season 5 that Carl and Florida are on their honeymoon and not only that, J.J calls her Mrs. Dixon

Then in season 6, she returns without Carl, and is not referred to as Mrs. Dixon

So I have no intentions of watching season 6 ever again. Only seasons 1 to 5 since all these seasons are connected

You barely figured that out? How long has it been since you watched the show? It was mentioned in the beginning of season five that Florida was on her honeymoon. They had to explain why she and Carl were not around.

Good Times really turned me off after season 4. It was an awesome show up until that point, but once the writing team decided to ignore history and insult the viewers with seasons 5 and 6, I lost it. I also will never watch seasons 5 and 6 for the very same reason as TVFactFan. Inconsistent writing, horrible storylines, and let's not forget that awful Penny Gordon. To put it mildly, what was once a great show became a major SUCKfest after season 4.

Pretending that the marriage of Carl and Florida never existed was a huge slap in the face to the viewers....what a mess!

I forgive the writers for that and give them my blessing so as to erase a mistake that should have never happened to begin with. I'm not that crazy about season five but love season six and yes folks, I do like Keith. I had no issue with him until he slapped Thelma. Then, of course, she got him back.

I liked Keith and Penny. I actually look forward to the seaon when Penny shows up on reruns.

Keith and Thelma should have had their own spin-off.

BTW TVFactFan, I was skimming through threads here and there was mention before of Carl and Flo being on their honeymoon. Did you not read those posts? People who go on a honeymoon is an indicator that they have just married.

If Norman Lear would have been more flexible, the people working under him would not have had to try and clean up messes that were made due to him be stubborn when it came to Esther Rolle wanting to leave.

Were the writers the same during seasons 4, 5 and 6? Or did new writers come in for season 6?

Let me make a correction, Season 5 I can watch but definitely season 6

Season 5 is still connected to season 4. season 6 is not connected to SH*T

Well, you're entitled but I much prefer the season six. So much better, IMO. I'm glad Mr. Lear realized he was wrong to try and go on without mom in the picture.

The writing team royally F!@#ED up in my opinion. The non-mention or lack of closure to the Carl character was a HUGE flaw, awful writing, and an insult to the viewers. I don't care if there was a new writing team in place. They should be educated on the history in the show. And the mere, little mention that Carl got about the book he bought for Michael PROVES that the writing team remembered who Carl was. They just chose to ignore his and Florida's history. They ignored the fact that they got married. It wasn't even a re-write. It was total IGNORANCE, neglect and abandonment. They left us guessing.

Let's look at another 70s sitcom....What's Happening...when Mabel King left the show before season 3, she was still MENTIONED in the later episodes. Dee would say "Mama's at........(wherever) or Mama's visiting.....(whoever.) They didn't keep us guessing. We KNEW Mabel was still being mentioned as a character as we knew that the actress would not return to the show. At least that writing team showed some consistancy and didn't just ignore Mama completely. It's not like they just had the woman vanish from the show with no mention.
