Default Can you imagine if today was October 8, 1972?

You would be forced to make a program decision because you would have no options of seeing another show at that particular time at all. You could only ask others how the show is since it was no way to record the show. That must have sucked back in the day to know you HAD to make a decision and stick with it

So I guess shows that were in the top ten 40 years ago because I know people's expectations were a lot higher back then due to the limited options. And I thought of this because right now I want to watch 2 Broke Girls but decided to watch On Demand tomorrow since something else is on at 9pm.

Aren't you happy today is October 8, 2012?

Very much so!! Now if you have two (or more) shows in the same time-slot, you can breathe easy knowing there's DVR, On Demand, Hulu, Netflix, Network Streaming, etc. You have multiple watching options.
Nowadays with the network time-slots being so competitive, there's always a chance of having at least one or two shows I like being on at the same time.

I felt like they (networks) gave shows more of a chance back then and a longer life too. It's sad to think of all the shows in recent years that have had potential that were per-maturely canceled due to low ratings.

We only had CBS in 1972 which worked out okay. I only wished we had NBC in 1974 so we could watch Kolchak The Night Stalker. The family finally got a new floor model TV with cable and color in 1975 Woohoo

Well you had the right channel LOL. Your decision was easier.

BTW: CBS always came in more clear than the other channels before the cable era

We had all the networks in 1972. All in all I think we had about 8 channels. No remote though...you had to get up and turn the channel for yourself.

We had a B & W Tv in 1972. We did have a color tv but it had broke a couple of years earlier. We still used it as furniture. I actually cracked my head on it a year earlier. hno:

I think that year CBS was the leader in comedies, and ABC had nothing lol

Someday they'll probably invent something where you don't even have to push a remote button. You can probably just change channels with your mind!!

Now doesn't Hulu have the latest episode streaming the next day after it aired?
