Default Why did Clair have to act like she was Cliff's mother?

Watching the episode when Theo sneaks to Coackroach house to get a special dish and then he is trying to eat it in the basement so he can hide from clair

Wasn't he a grown a$$ man and free to eat whatever he wanted? A wife can suggest healthier options but shouldn't be FORCING her husband to do anything. That was the one thing that always irritated me about this show

I never bought into how Claire was supposed to be the perfect wife and mother. I hated her holier than thou attitude. I found her to be controlling and a shrew.

I know, she was perfect in every way. She knew everything which irritated the hell out of me.

I hated those FIRM, NASTY faces that Claire would make when she was trying to get her stupid opinions or demands accross. Honestly, I don't know how Cliff put up with her. I would have run away from home!

And she always wanted to present herself as perfect to her kids. Like when she wanted to test theo on Casear and then lied to Cliff and said she had not read the book in years

Clair rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. On other message boards I've read that people just don't like her character at all because she was a "know it all." Personally, I liked her character, but it would've been neat to see Clair be wrong even if just once!! Although I loved how she was always right over Cliff!!!

I really didn't mind the Claire Character in the first Two season or the last Two seasons. But in season 3-6 She has that Bossy, Nagging, Know-It-all Nose in the Air attitude that bugged me about her and that is one thing the things I did not like about this show and her her character. I did not like the way that she forced Cliff on a diet fine she wanted him to be healthy and eat better which is nothing wrong with that, but she shouldn't be forcing him to eat healthy and putting him on a strict diet which made her seem controlling! She could have just told Cliff that she was concern about his eating habits and that she wanted him to start eating better and healthier. She should not have forced him to stop eating stuff he liked(Moggies, Pizza, Etc). if Eaten in Moderation it won't kill you. And it was not like he was in bad shape to start with anyway. Other then that she was okay.

One thing I notice was that On Home Improvement Jill Taylor seem like a White 'Claire Huxtables ' in a small way in how she thought that she was Mrs Know it all and thought that she was right. But a least Jill Taylor let Tim be right from time to time and let him eat bad food that he like! She wasn't also Naggy like Claire Huxtable or Later Debra Barone.

The Diet storyline(Claire Nagging on Cliff about Food/ Diet) Got tiring pretty quickly And I was glad when the Writers in later seasons began doing trhat storyline and Claire was not as bad about what Cliff was eating and was Nagging on him all the time. If you notice that in season 8 She was not on his case all the time and she began to be less bossy and Naggy. Season 8 Claire O always thought was kind of like Ruth Lucas.

Interesting comparison. Although Tim Taylor was a far cry from Cliff Huxtable!!!

Clair just had a dominating personality and wasn't afraid to let that be known!! Vanessa was kinda bossy too. I wonder if she got it from Clair. And then Sondra was bossy with Elvin too!!! Denise didn't really boss Martin around...I don't think...
