Reference to Florida Evans in season 5
This was a funny scene after Maude makes a reference to Florida explaining why she wants her new maid to be black
Maude: "I want a black maid because I can learn from a black women. Florida was proud to be black, she took pride in heritage, she had spunk, she stood up to me and I admired that" Walter: "Gee, I wish I was black"  When this reference was made the Florida Evans character was not on TV at all......April 1977 |

Oh, yes she was. Her last season of her work on Good Times (before she quit) was airing. Reruns from this particular season does count because its the eps aired from this season that was current at the time.
