25 years ago; SuperStation WTBS becomes SuperStation TBS

Hey guys,

25 years ago this fall on September 22, 1987, Superstation WTBS changes its logo to SuperStation TBS to emphasize the network's national programming prominence

SuperStation TBS even got a huge makeover and even showed more Classic Movies as well as more Classic TV Programming

SuperStation TBS would remain until September 3, 1989

During it's 2 year run, SuperStation TBS still had the Weekday Funnies from Father Knows Best, The Munsters, The Addams Family, The Original Leave it to Beaver, The All-New Leave it to Beaver, Laverne & Shirley, Good Times, The Jeffersons and they even aired One Day at a Time, Alice and 9 to 5 The Series as well as The Andy Griffith Show and even Sanford & Son and the cult classic Gilligan's Island

SuperStation TBS also saw the Atlanta Braves, the NBA and of course, the NWA which later became WCW as well as Night Tracks and its spin-offs Chartbusters and Power Play

SuperStation TBS even aired Clash of the Champions-NWA/WCW's version of Saturday Night's Main Event

SuperStation TBS even aired Classic Cartoons from The Flintstones and even Tom & Jerry's SuperStation Funhouse and even Super Scary Saturday hosted by Grandpa Munster himself the late Al Lewis

SuperStation TBS also aired segments entitled Kids Beat with Actress Corri English and Famed Songwriter Johnta' Austin

SuperStation TBS even aired the Popular Crime Drama Series "CHiPs"

SuperStation TBS had a slogan called "Celebrate" named after the song by 3 Dog Night

March 1988-SuperStation TBS reaches 50 percent penetration of all American television households.

March 20-22, 1988-The most extensive look ever at the people, geography and culture of the USSR, "Portrait of the Soviet Union," premieres.

July 12, 1989-SuperStation TBS announces plans to air NBA Atlanta Hawks package, showcasing 25 regular season Hawks games during the 1989-90 season.

July 24, 1989-SuperStation TBS announces plans to indemnify cable operators who agree not to black out TBS against syndex-related claims when the new syndicated exclusivity rules take effect on Jan. 1, 1990

WTBS Atlanta was also renamed SuperStation 17

and they even aired a series from TBS Community Affairs entitled Between the Lines with Karen D'Uva
