Isn't that the same thing or reasonably close?

I Love Lucy was the best there ever was and it's the best there ever will be. Nothing on TV ever came close and nothing ever will.

I respect your opinion and those that feel the same way but I strongly disagree with it.

I will go along with the sentiment that I Love Lucy is the best show of all time, and I think a case can be made that that's true. I don't, however, think that nothing else has ever come close. There have been many stellar TV shows over the decades, and I think the ones in that top five, as well as some that weren't, are very close contenders.

I'm not fond of I Love Lucy either, but I do like The Lucy Show. Here's Lucy is so-so, not as good as The Lucy Show.

I am currently watching the first 2 seasons of I Love Lucy for the very first time.

Although enjoyable at times, I find a lot of the episodes repetitive & contrived.

However for a show that is over 60 years old, it does hold up. It's not like there are many shows for the 50's that we still watch and talk about.

I agree with regard to the first season -- and for a long time I held off buying the first season DVD set for that very reason; it's the last one I bought -- but from the second season on, it's brilliant.

The 2nd season though had a break with these flashback episodes after Lucy had Ricky.
You expect to see the next few episodes about baby Ricky and they come later.

I think that's because of a complicated situation they had at the time with Lucille Ball's real-life pregnancy. They wanted to keep the sex of the baby secret until the "Lucy Goes to the Hospital" episode aired. They also wanted to time that episode closely with the actual birth of Desi Jr (it aired the evening of the day Desi Arnaz, Jr. was born). Then there needed to be a period of time after the actual birth for Lucille Ball to recuperate and be with her new baby. But the show had to continue in the meantime during her absence. Therefore, they had to have several episodes filmed in advance of the birth that would air during the recuperation period. But since they were trying to keep a secret what the gender would be, these episodes couldn't be about the baby or it would greatly increase the risk of the secret getting out. So I guess the only way to get around that was to film these episodes as flashbacks to events from before the birth of Little Ricky. "No Children Allowed" was the first episode filmed after the birth of Desi Jr. and from that point on, the episodes could openly deal with the new baby.

I am so glad to see I Love Lucy back on top again!

I've seen other Top TV show lists that usually have "Seinfeld" at the top (I know there are a lot of fans of that show, but to me, it was like watching paint dry!)

I Love Lucy IS the greatest show of all-time, and I don't care how long TV is around, there will never be another situation comedy that can hold a candle to it. Especially when you see the sitcoms of today, which are clearly written by people who have not an ounce of humor in their whole body

I Love Lucy was a great show, and even starred one of the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. I believe Lucy in her heyday was more beautiful than Liz. Anyway, I do love this show, but best or greatest is a matter of opinion. My self, I would put I Love Lucy in the top 3, but I still love Gilligan Island the most. I love Lucy would be #2 to me of the sitcoms and the Honeymooners #3. I will say this though. If Lucy is back on, I will be looking for it.
