Default Lisa Whelchel Divorced

I can't believe it I always thought she had it all but it's true Lisa and Steve got divorced after a 24 year marriage. Here is the article and she confirms it. http://bit.ly/RDgrej

I think in a way she did/does. In her youth she was part of something that will forever endear her to people everywhere but as an adult she made a decision that as far as we know was not entered into blindly to devote her life to her family instead of furthering her career in the industry.

Despite what some of the tabloids have to say, as of right now I'm choosing to believe that most of the twenty-four years, she and Steve Cauble were married were happy ones. Together they've obviously raised three well adjusted children and during this time she was even able to carve out another career for herself as an author.

The only thing that is somewhat confusing now, is the sudden return to acting after her divorce from Cauble. In a way it's sort of the proverbial elephant in the room here but insinuating anything beyond that would be just wild speculation on anyone's part.

My thoughts are with Lisa and her family during what has to be a difficult time.

Wasn't her now ex-husband quite a bit older?

This divorce really doesn't surprise me. I would suspect with the age difference and their kids being grown, they would grow apart. JMO of course

Red face

Woah. This is rather strange as one of her daughters has just gotten married. But, it wouldn't surprise us that a lot of things go on beneath the surface.

I'm curious as to know what's going on.

That is puzzling to me to cause she always advised her kids from acting. I remember in one of her blog posts a long time ago She and her family went to see a broadway play and after seeing that her youngest daughter Clancy wanted to become an actor and Lisa told her that in today's acting world it wouldn't be the best thing to do with given how the paparazi and tabloids are. Plus the press wasn't as bad back in the 80's as they are today. But It would be neat to see her back on TV again I just hope she picks good show's not shows like Glee or Secret Life of my teenage daughter, I hope she picks better shows like something on TV Land or The Middle or maybe she could play a mom on a disney channel show. And my thoughts and prayers are also with Lisa and her family during this time it's just sad to hear that after 24 years Lisa and Steve call it quits.

I think that for kids, especially hers, it wouldn't be a good idea to act, but I imagine as they got a little older it would be possible. I wonder what she would say about her daughter acting now. Young people do have a desire to act, and you can't hold that back.

Her kids are all adults now so they will all have to make their own decisions about what they want to do with their lives and what type of careers they want to pursue. That is really where the discussion both begins and ends on this matter quite honestly as given they are adults they have a right to do whatever it is they want to do with the rest of their lives.

As far as Lisa herself returning to acting. It's been mentioned many times before how much the landscape of the entertainment industry has changed since FOL went off the air in 1988. But Lisa is an intelligent woman who at least I believe didn't decide to reengage the entertainment industry on a whim. Speaking in the most general terms, it's hard for me to believe someone who was as talented and as good at what she did professionally speaking as Lisa was could ever completely abandon her passion for acting.

I'm sure she'll be fine and will choose projects that reflect the things she is passionate about.

Her husband probably got tired of all the bible thumping. Like Kirk Cameron she's a former Hollywood star who's taken it too far!

Then again no one's gone as looney as Cameron!

Actually, for many years, Steve Cauble worked as an associate pastor, although I'm not sure what he's doing now. He may still be an associate pastor for all I know. I haven't really kept very close tabs on the Cauble family like I know many of Lisa's fans do, so I can't say for certain if he still works as a pastor or not. But their Christian faith was clearly something BOTH spouses shared and taught to their children. And furthermore, I have the honor of saying I am a born-again Christian who does believe in Christ's sacrifice and in the importance of Bible study, and wise crack remarks about Christians being "Bible thumpers" is NOT a title I would be ashamed of. People can make fun of me and others like me all they want and put us down, but having a perfect, merciful God who would actually sacrifice His own Son to save humanity's sorry hides from hell and devoting our lives to such a remarkable God is NOT something people like Lisa or I would be ashamed of, and our faith is well worth whatever insults we have to put up with.

That's fine. You can believe in any mythology you want. You've got to realize that your religion isn't true just because "the bible says so". If you have read anything about the history of Christianitiy it was spread through force and bribery and is NOT based on fact! And if you've read about the history of Christianity they did NOT respect the rights of others. That's why all Christian societies have been wiped out yet just 300 years ago they were about half the planet!

I even know a guy who vistied the Vatican and he was NOT Christian and the Vatican official he spoke to actually agreed with him that there are many problems in the church!

Speaking of Lisa, she does look quite old in that pic in the article. Age can do awful things.

I'm with you 100 percent on that. All I can say is that if others don't agree or if critical, you just be glad that you know the truth and can be at peace. I know that is how I'm looking at it.
