Default Greg, Rachel and..........(UGGHH) Bobby!!!

I LOVE the episode "The Big Bet" (Bobby and Greg's Chin-Up Contest) because some good realistic conflict in this one. Greg and Bobby really have some shouting matches in this episode! Greg really HATES Bobby in this episode. In this case with good reasons. Yes, the bet that Bobby won did say that the loser had to do everything the winner said for a week. But Bobby used Greg by taking advantage of him by interfering in Greg's and Racquel's date, just to be a PITA.

There's absolute continuity GENIUS in "Greg Get's Grounded" (Living by exact words produces disastrous results) because in another classic Greg and Rachel moment at the drive-in, Greg reminds Rachel about that he had to bring Bobby along the last time they went to the drive in, just as the frogs are crawling out of the box!!!! That close-up scene with the frogs eyes jumping onto the pizza! Hope Sherwood said that they had a prop guy on top of the car who dropped the frogs onto the pizza. It was a prop actually made to look like a pizza. (They didn't want to use a real hot pizza to make sure the frogs weren't hurt.) She said that they had to do about fifteen retakes of that scene because the kids and the crew kept cracking up!!! Barry ad-libbed his lines, " I don't think we'll be eating this tonight, and he was in 34th place too."

Peter's line's hysterical after he and Bobby forget to take the frogs out of the car as Greg hurries to pick up Rachel to take her to the movie. "Betcha, no one else ever went to a drive in movie with a bunch of frogs!!!!" LOL!

I wonder if Chris ad-libbed that too!!! LOL!

Hope was a good sport with the frogs. I hate frogs, they gross me out! If that were me with a frog on my head I would've been saying curse words that would make a sailor blush!

I read in the book Here's The Story by the Schwartzes that Hope is still haunted this very day about that scene with the frogs. And to think, they had to use 34 TAKES!!!

That's obviously a fake frog on the pizza.

Bobby had the same bratty attitude toward Peter in the episode where he saves Peter's life and then turns Peter into a slave. Bobby definitely lets power go to his head.

LOL!!!! 34 takes!!!!??? I didn't think it was quite that much! Barry's book, Growing Up Brady, has some errors in it, but I remember that he said between takes, that Mike and Chris would scare the girls with the frogs and threaten to put the frogs on their heads! hahahaha!

Or how about Bobby's job as school safety monitor? ("Law and Disorder") he starts giving citations to everyone at school AND at home for next to nothing and won't listen to reason why sometimes you have to bend the rules a little bit to show consideration for others.

I wonder how long it took them to film the Washing Machine Flood scene!?

There's several episodes where Bobby's authority goes to his head:

1.) The Big Bet
2.) Law and Disorder
3) My Brother's Keeper- (Bobby makes Peter his "Slave" after Peter saves him from a falling ladder.)
4.) Greg Gets Grounded. (He was sure eager to blab to Mike and Carol about Greg's near freeway accident.)

Speaking of continuity, note the brand of detergent he used!

Hey Jack - speaking of the washing machine flood scene? I bet you recall they did the same thing with Beaver and Gilbert in the episode "Beaver does Gilbert's Laundry" or something like that. Looks like Swartz took a play out of the Cleaver handbook.

Cool

According to the book "Brady Brady Brady" by Sherwood and Lloyd Schwartz in order to film the frog scene on stagehand (lying on the floor in the backseat of the car) would toss a frog upwards where a second stagehand would catch it while a third stagehand dropped another frog on Hope's head. And this was frightening for the frogs. And when frogs get frightened they urinate. So after the many takes of this scene Hope went home and shampooed her hair six times trying to get rid of the frog urine!!
