Default Return to Green Acres DVD

As we see on the blog on Saturday, Return to Green Acres has been released on DVD. I went to my Walmart looking for it and didn't see it. Oldies has it on sale for $7 which isn't to terrible. http://www.oldies.com/collection-vie...-Acres-TV.html

I'll probbably pick it up. I recorded it off the TV from UPN over ten years ago and it is pretty good, not the greatest, but pretty good. Whats nice about it is how much of the cast is in it, the plots lame, but seeing everyone makes it worth it.

Quote:
Apparently, some time ago, MGM made a sub-licensed some of their properties to TGG, a studio which has typically been known for releasing public domain products. Somehow, out of this, we missed two releases back in July. The studio quietly released In the Heat of the Night - The First Season and Return to Green Acres! Unfortunately, this sort of comes with a catch. If you click on those links, you'll find that the products are out of stock on amazon.com, and apparently, TGG products never have a stable stock anywhere. In fact, the only place anybody has reported actually finding these DVDs is in the $5 discount bin at Walmart stores... but if you've ever seen these bins, you'll know that finding anything in them is like looking for a needle in a haystack (you may not find them at all in your local store). But at the very least, it seems that there is some movement here, and hopefully these titles will eventually become even more readily available.

Another story that we missed is another reunion movie of a series related to Green Acres (indirectly). Last month, an unknown studio released The Return of the Beverly Hillbillies as an Amazon CreateSpace title! The 1981 film features most of the original cast, along with Imogene Coca and Heather Locklear, as the Clampetts join forces with Miss Jane to help solve the nation's energy crisis. Personally, I've never seen the movie... the Clampetts we all knew (except for Granny) have jumped into the cliches of the '80s! It appears to be a low budget release, so we can't say much about how great the quality is... but it is very nice to see this actually make it to DVD.

I still haven't bought it yet, I don't want to pay shipping. I might check out the dollar stores or maybe Big Lots this weekend.

Here are couple other options online where they have it in stock.

$5.65 at Deep Discount
$11.96 at Critics' Choice
$8.99 at Movies Unlimited
$5.52 at DVD Planet
$4.45 at ImportCDs

Best Buy also listed it, but it was out of stock.

Why is this not available at Amazon? Very unusual!

It sounds like it is because of limited distribution. It is listed on the site, but it's just been out of stock all week. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Got a copy for my birthday. I only played it to see how it looked, I actually haven't watched it yet, but it looks a heck of a lot better than the version I taped off the TV years ago. Here are some screen caps

The runtime of the movie is 1:34:50

It's so cool that so many of the cast was still around for RTG. Only Fred & Doris Ziffel were missing from the main cast!

Yes -- I remember being sure to watch the GA reunion when it first aired, and seeing everyone was sort of an override of any disappointments.

One thing I wanted to mention about The Return of the Beverly Hillbillies was that it was nice to see Linda Kaye Henning in it. IIRC, she also got to work with Buddy Ebsen a little on Barnaby Jones.
