Default Why did Cleatus decide to go to the Evans

I always wondered why did Cleatus, Florida's nephew the criminal who robbed the bank decided to go to the Evans home in the projects to hide with all of that money, I guess he had no where else to go and what makes the FBI come to the Evans home assuming Cleatus will be there hiding out, the FBI should have started at Cleatus last known address at his mother's home first..

I know, I never understood that either. It wasn't mentioned the FBI checked his own home first. We just have to assume they did. And Florida mentioned she hadn't seen Cleatus since two Christmases. The only thing I could think of is Cleatus must of opened his mouth and hinted he had relatives he was going to stay with

Yes, we have to assume they checked out his home and the area where he lived at as well as other close relatives. Normally, the FBI or other agencies looking for a fugitive, tend to track down the fugitive's relatives, where they live, etc. They can get that info without talking to anyone, even back then in the 70's. Cleatus was Flo's nephew, so it is not that far a stretch for the FBI to go and check out Florida's home. The FBI has no idea that Florida hadn't seen him in years, they just know she is his mother's sister.

Now what I want to know is, where was Florida's sister and her brother, Wilbert, when James died? They didn't show up to the funeral.

Again we have to assume(that word again, lol) that Florida's family lived out of town and wasn't close to James. Wilbur did live out of town, and sometimes people can't make it in town for a funeral. Florida's sister was never seen or even named, so it wasn't a big deal. The bigger question was why wasn't James's father at the funeral. He showed up a couple of times after James died and never mentioned James again.

I guess. I know that sometimes people support their relatives especially when a death occurs regardless if they were close to the deceased or not. I never got the feeling Wilbur had any ill-feelings toward James. Why would he? It is about paying respects, but most importantly, because James' death was due to a car accident, I would think Wilbur would at least be concerned for his sister's welfare and how she was handling the shock to his sudden death, much like he was concerned for his nephew Michael who was in trouble at school. I would think Wilbur would have done anything to be there for Flo and the kids.

James' dad was another one who I wondered about. Hell, where was Cousin Raymond? Talking about how close he and Flo were growing up, yada yada yada. LOL The way these people talked about how close they were to Florida, you'd think at her time of need they would be there for her.

Yup didn't go to the funeral but.....

1. Showed up afterwards and had no interest in discussing James

2. And shows up with someone he was dating
