I'm certain that most people have these "Where Were You?" type moments, e.g. the 9/11 attacks, President Kennedy being shot and killed (for those of you who were around back then), and Princess Diana being killed in a car accident in Paris, France along with Dodi Al Fayed.
For me, my personal "Where Were You?" moment occurred with the death of Davy Jones. I remember very distinctively, I was talking with my father on my Google Plus page chat room when he told me that Davy Jones, beloved as a TV Monkee, had just died of a massive Heart Attack; at first, I thought it was a sick joke, but as we ultimately know now, it unfortunately wasn't. Not to get too off-topic, but according to the "E! True Hollywood Story" episode in 1999 focusing on The Monkees, Davy Jones was the first Monkee hired--and the only Monkee hired without EVER having to audition. I remember watching The Monkees TV show via MTV back when MTV showcased Monkees reruns, and hopefully the TV series will be shown somewhere in the U.S. beyond Antenna TV, which most people don't get. On that note, I hate cutting this message short, but before I do, feel free to share your memories of where you were when you heard the news of the death of Davy Jones. |

I was at work when I heard and as soon as I got in my car, I cried my eyes out! I still get tears in my eyes if I watch anything with him in it. |
