Default Should the writers have done more with Lana?

I know the Lana character was one-dimensonal and was meant to be. But I was watching "The Love Barge" when Janet and Chrissy argued because they wanted to go with jack on that cruise. Lana was sent to talk to both and she sovled the argument. That was the first time anyone listened to Lana. That was also the first time Lanas did something rather than get horny for Jack. They could have done more for Lana after seeing that scene. I know Ann Wedgeworth didn't like such a limited character, and it was refreshing to see her interact with Janet and Chrissy like she really cared.

I think it was hard to write for her because she wasn't connected to any of the characters. All the other characters outside of APT 201 had a reason to be seen over and over

Larry.....Jack's friend
Ropers-landlord
Furley-landlord
Mike the Bartender....Worked at the Beagle
Felipe....Worked at Angelino's
Mr. Angelino.....Jack's boss
Dean Travers.....Head person in charge at Jack's school

Lana..........??????????????-LOL You see how her character served no purpose at all and would end up being harder to write for her?

They made a mistake when they had her always go after Jack. They should have tried to make her a friend of the trio. That would be the only way it would work.

Yup, you can't just have a character on the set with no purpose-lol She wasn't his girlfriend, his coworker, his old childhood friend, his coworker, just ANOTHER tenant in the building-LOL

Well, she was introduced in her debut episode as an escort lady that had money. But that was all we knew about her. After that, she didn't appear to have money, just a regular horny tenant.

They still should have developed her character after that scene because that showed me as a viewer, her character could do more.

See, the two times she was labeled and there was no connection to any of the TC characters

Escort....stranger

Tenant.....Stranger

Even in the openings credits she is sitting alone on the bench when she trips jack lol

It was too late by that time and then they realized they screwed up. When someone is seen for the first time they have to be connected to one of the characters already on the show to be accepted by viewers.

Example

Felipe....Jack''s coworker

Some things can be fixed. I saw her character as potiential to be developed. But, some actors can be brought back as different characters, like the endless Jefferey Tambor appearances. They should have kept Lans horny, but gave her more personality and let her focus on other things.

I think Jeffery tambor was accepted because he went on to star on the Ropers after his 1 appearance on TC. And when he returned to TC his character was connected to Terri as her coworker. Lana was just a ongoing GUEST

Come on Jude

You never seen the season 4 opening credits with Lana sitting on the bench alone and then she trips Jack while he is walking with Janet and Chrissy?

It's not seen on the Antenna TV eps, only TV land and DVD

There was an episode called Black Letter Day, where Lana shows the girls an article that appeared in Dear Abby, supposedly a letter that Jack had sent in. In this episode Lana wasn't totally focused on Jack as usual and it was very funny. There was is one example of how they could have used Lana a bit differently.
