30 years ago in the spring of 1982, The All Female New Wave Rock Band called The Go-Go's consisted of Lead Singer Belinda Carlisle, Guitarist and Keyboard Player Charlotte Caffey, Guitarist and Singer Jane Wiedlin, Bass Player Kathy Valentine and Drummer Gina Schock scored big with their Debut Album entitled Beauty and the Beat which is considered one of the "cornerstone albums of (US) new wave" (Allmusic), breaking barriers and paving the way for a host of other new American acts

The album hit #1 on the Pop Album Chart and stayed at #1 for 6 consecutive weeks selling 3,000,000 copies and reaching triple platinum status, making it one of the most successful debut albums ever

The album scored The Go-Go's 2 Top 20 Hits on the Pop Chart and the Mainstream Chart and 2 Top 40 Hits on the Dance Chart

"Our Lips are Sealed" and the cult favorite "We Got the Beat"

"Our Lips are Sealed became the band's 1st Top 20 Pop and Mainstream Hit and their 1st Top 10 Hit on the Dance Chart and We Got the Beat became the band's 1st Top 5 Pop Hit peaking at #2 and their 1st Top 10 Mainstream Hit
