Question unresolved story lines

I love Taxi, its a fave and a classic but I do have one gripe:I remember unresolved story lines.Example:Tony asked his girlfriend to marry him,she said yes,we never saw her again. Also:Louie had a blind girlfriend, who got an operation to restore her sight, she saw him and thought he was beautiful,he proposed, she accepted...we never saw her again. And I believe Tony wanted to adopt a young boy...who we never heard from again. Is this cuz the show ended????

The episode about Brian, the little boy who Tony wanted to adopt, really bugs me too. Brian was in two episodes of season 2, and in the second episode ("Tony and Brian"), Brian rejects Tony in favor of a wealthy couple who wants to adopt him. When the wealthy couple rejects him, Brian goes back to Tony and apparently becomes his adopted son. But that is the last time (as far as I know) that he is mentioned on the show. I don't think it is because the show ended, since Brian was only in season 2, and the show went on to have 3 more seasons. It's definitely annoying though.

Incidentally, the part of Brian was played by Tony Danza's real life son, Marc Anthony Danza.

Cool

It really bugs me when shows don't resolve story lines. Didn't Tony and Louie both get engaged near the end of the final season though?

Yep, both of them met their fiancee on #91,"The Schloogel Show." This is also the first show to run on NBC, and Carol Kane's first show as a regular cast member.

In #107, Tony's girlfriend Vicki announces that she's pregnant, and Tony proposes.

In #109, Louie proposes to Judy.

In #111, Elaine's date (Arnie) from the Schloogel show returns, and meets Elaine's kids.

If you ask me, the writers were running out of ideas, and so when someone suggested that they bring back the dates from The Schloogel Show, it probably seemed like a good idea. Who knows, if the show had lasted another season, perhaps they would have brought back Alex's date...

What's really weird is that other women from Louie's past show up near the end of TAXI's run as well. In #97, Louie gets revenge on Emily, the woman he slept with (and got dumped by) in #72. Then, in episode #100, Louie confronts Zena, who is getting married.

And here's another example to support my 'running out of ideas' theory:

In #96, Alex decides to pursue his dream of working in the theatre, and so takes a job as a gopher. If it is Alex's dream to work in the theatre, how come we're just learning about it in episode #96? How come Alex and Bobby never talked about acting, or the fact that Alex had for years had this unfulfilled desire to quit driving a cab and work in theatre?

And one more thing that has always bugged me: In several episodes which show Elaine in her apartment (#33 and #13, for example), there are no signs of Elaine's two kids, and every indication that she lives alone.

Those were good storylines, especially the one about Louie's girlfriend. If they'd been developed, they probably would have worked out.
