NOW FEATURING...GILLIGAN'S PLANET

Ok. Again, it's GI--so I would and have watched it...but it's been a little while, so I'll do my best.

At least the other cartoon is somewhat of a cartoon version of them on the island-this one takes place on a rocky, barren planet!!! It is such a dismal atmosphere. How could they stand it for even 5 minutes?

The other thing that bothers me about this is the spinning boat wheel that punctuates scenes--over and OVER again. Get the dramamene! I find it very annoying--why does it have to be done? (I forget if it was in the "New Adventures" as well). Many cartoons can be fun even for adults to watch and they don't do something annoying (and physically sickening for some) like that. Please!!!

The Ginger/Maryann outfits are curious (same in the previous cartoon). Ginger is now in a mini when she almost always wore long evening gowns while Maryann wore the mini stuff mostly. Also, Maryann's outfits in the series, casual or not, were almost always still quite "feminine." In the cartoon series we obviously have a pull for a more "feminist" rather than "feminine" dressing Maryann. She is definitely being covered up alot--yet Ginger's hemline has risen dramatically. Funny.

My son used to love this cartoon (hey, not the original series here--I'm talking about on dvd!). He was crazy about "Bumper," Gilligan's pet alien friend. I agree--Bumper is adorable.

I love the way, in the opening song, Natalie really gets into her lines and tries to make it sound a little dramatic--she was still going and not too big to try to do a great job even with this!

I actually liked the little "strange planet" touch with the planet having 3 suns and the sunglasses Gilligan made for himself with 3 lenses.

Npyhj goirl;s were also voiced by Mary Ann herself, Dawn Wells. And again ginger Grant is blonde and not redhaired, hair changeddue to TIna Louise's pobjections to anything portraying her Gilligan associated! [of course Ginger would in the cartoons look like her influence, Marilyn Monroe. Now all we need is a brunette GInger, "The Second Ginger Grant" notwishtandin g (remember that dress up she did as Mary Ann when mary Ann from bumpbing her head thought SHE was GINGER? Maybe the speficic blonde hair color, in adiditon to generally avoiiding the looks of TIna L., was to reflect the Marilyn conneciton as I mention.Tina Louisoe even BREATHED like Miss Monroe.]

i barely remember the cartoon, but I know I watched them when they first aired - all I really remember was that it was very goofy.
