Default James and Florida was stressing over a "medical debt?"

In the ep Florida's Rich Cousin James revealed that J.J's dental bill was $325 and that they still owed on the bill from Florida's operation

Why did they need to borrow money to pay that?-lol Everything comes before a damm medical bill

Food
Rent
Utility Bills
Clothes

Did I miss anything?

What also pissed me off about James in that episode was that he made poor JJ feel guilty for having to go to the dentist.

Do you have any idea how much that dental bill would be nowadays? In the THOUSANDS! James would have had a stroke! I thought it was funny when Wilona asked JJ ..."What have you been brushing your teeth with? ....Hot fudge sundaes?

Back in 1996, I had to pay a little over $5,000 to the dentist. I had to pay him up front before he started the procedure. And that was only for four teeth!

Medical and Bank debt are worst when it comes to credit. Not everyone has the mentality of NOT paying their bills. There are people out there who don't want that on their credit, also when you're an adult you pay your debt, it goes along with being an adult.

I broke my wrist when I was 21 and it took me forever to pay that off, Well my husband end up paying it off

But since they were low income and Florida had a unexpected health situation they didn't have to concern themselves with paying off the bill because the things below were more important

Food
Rent
Utility Bills
Children Clothes

Just because you're low income doesn't mean that you don't pay your bills. They were never truly hurting for anything. Medical bill is a bill like any other bill and you pay it. If your thinking about buying a house or a car, you don't want that showing up on your credit. Even if you're low income, you never know when you'll become fortunate enough to put a down payment on a house or car. And nowadays companies are doing credit checks on people who apply for jobs, so if your unemployed you for sure don't want that on your credit.

Yes it does appear on your credit because it was on mine for a few years until it was paid off. So that is a big fat lie. And what's worse is that the hospital collections will sell your debt to another collections agency just so it will stay on your credit for years, and then that collections agency will sell it to another collection agency. Go to the hospital now and don't pay the bill, lets see what happens.

I had a hospital bill back in 2004 because I knew nothing about a $250 deductible after I had surgery. I thought the insurance covered me completely for the surgery and all of a sudden I get a bill for $250 and was like..."I ain't paying for this SH*T

It ended up going to $275 and I never paid it. And guess what? A year later I applied for a American Express Card and was approved and I still have that card 7 years later.

Are you saying medical bills is more important than FOOD??????????

When I broke my wrist, had a bill that was $6,000 plus some change from two hospitals and it stayed on my credit until it was paid off and in turn it messed with my credit score. That meant that when I went to purchase our first home we had to make a HUGE down payment. Medical debt and bank debt are the two evils to have on your credit. I told you a few years ago anyone can get a credit card the credit that you get might not be that high but a company will give you a card especially if your a student or employed.

What I'm saying is to SOME people a bill is a bill and it has to be paid. Especially dental because you never know when you will need to take your children to the dentist. Don't get me started talking about health care LOL.

Well I guess we will just have to agree to disagree because FOOD in my refrigerator will always be a higher priority than a medical bill that I can pay PIECE by PIECE

I never said that food wasn't important. I'm pretty sure that James and Flo would buy food before paying their med bill. I'm just saying that it was still a bill and it had to be paid like the others. I would stress over a med bill too if there wasn't that much money coming into the house. James just looked at it as another bill that he had to pay.
