FX Orders 90 More Episodes of "Anger Management"

FX has ordered 90 more episodes of the Charlie Sheen sitcom "Anger Management", the network announced on Wednesday.

The pickup is part of the show's original deal, which stipulated that if the show met a specific ratings average over the first eight episodes, it would be picked up for an additional 90 episodes.

"We set a very high ratings bar that included some additional hurdles for 'Anger Management' to earn its back-90 order and the series met and exceed those metrics," Chuck Saftler, executive vice president of FX, said.

"Bruce Helford has created a sitcom that works extremely well in our pre-10 p.m. programming lineup. Charlie Sheen and the entire cast did an amazing job in the first ten episodes, which were produced in a very tight window. I have no doubt that the producers and cast will be able to pull off the Herculean task of producing 90 episodes over the next two years."

Debuting in June, "Anger Management" set a ratings record as the most-watched scripted comedy series premiere in cable history, drawing in 5.47 million viewers. It continued to average 4.52 million viewers over the course of the first season.

The comedy stars the former "Two and a Half Men" actor as an-ex baseball player who overcomes his own rage issues to become an anger management therapist.

Production on Season 2 begins on Sept. 24 and is expected to return in January.

So they decided to go with the 90 episode deal.. 90 episodes over just 2 years is still a lot

That's great. I wasn't sure for awhile that the show was succeeding well enough for FX to want to continue but I guess I was wrong. Honestly, I look forward to seeing what episodes they come out with in the future.
