How did James expect his family to react when he came home saying he got a raise? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

When he told the Kids he got a $15 buck raise they all started saying what they wanted and his face started getting frowned up

Did he forget he was a family man? What else will kids say if their father comes home and says he got a raise? He acted like he planned on spending that extra money on himself after he announced it

When you are married and come home to announce that it's is supposed to benefit the HOUSEHOLD

They were kids who never had anything. Of course they are all going to expect some treats from James' raise. James was a dummy not to expect that one.

You can't come home as a dad and tell your kids you got a raise and not epect them to expect something. Looks like he should have just kept the news to himself since it was only 15 dollars

Maybe he could have gotten them each a small, inexpensive gift that they needed or wanted. And he could have gotten Florida a bottle of perfume or something. This way, if he came home with a few gifts, nobody would be expecting anything else. But since he just announced his raise and didn't have any gifts, it's no surprise that the kids would want something. Sometimes James was a real bonehead.

Because they probably was like......."why else would he be telling us if he doesn't plan to get us anything?

I am too tired to look right now and too tired to remember, but was this episode before or after the episode where James came home and brought gifts for the kids when he had a stroke of luck ?
