Default John Ritter was going to be a reporter on this show if..........

Three's Company failed during season 1. John Ritter was told if TC didn't work out he had a job waiting for him as one of the reporters on the Lou Grant show.

It never came to that since he made TC a Classic.

Info from the TC Book

If TC didn't make it, he might have become more of a dramatic actor than a comic one. That coming after all those years playing the Reverend on The Waltons.

I never seen him in a drama role so it's hard for me to see him in a serious role

He was good on Hawaii Five-O (original series) in a serious role.

I remember reading that. If "Three's Company" didn't work out, that would of been interesting to see. But I'm glad "Three's company" became successful.

Joyce always thought John was talented in both the comedy and drama aspects of acting. She says to understand comedy as deeply as he did, you understand drama deeply.

John was very good at drama. He guest starred on a lot of drama shows in the 70's. I actually saw him guest as a medical student on Movin On a few weeks ago. I checked and that episode was from 1975. He looked so young. Jeff Conaway of Taxi was in it too.
