Default Has ME-TV jumped the shark?

It seems like theres been a little negativity on the board about ME-TV. I wonder has it jumped the shark? You know I was gung-ho on getting ME-TV. I started a thread about it. It just seems like I've been a little underwhelmed by it. I mean they did good things. When Andy Griffith died, they showed The Danny Thomas Show where Andy Taylor first made his appearance. They also showed Gomer Pyle USMC where Opie ran away and Andy had to go get him. Even when the guy from My 3 Sons died, I forgot his name, they showed a few episodes of My 3 Sons about him.

It just seems like the shows that I want to see, I cant see because of my affiliate. I miss the late night lineup and early morning lineup. And I have seen the fall ME-TV schedule and maybe its me but are you impressed?? Im not really. Do you really need MASH, Gunsmoke and Bonanza on? Really? I mean havent they been re-run into the ground already? And is it me or do they have too many freaky, scary and space shows on there now? The Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Lost in Space.

So do you think that its just me and I have lousy taste or do you think that I'm right?

Antenna TV and Me-TV are the best classic stations out there right now, in my opinion. I would hardly say, ME TV has jumped the shark. It's obviously doing something right if they keep getting more and more affiliates.

I personally don't mind the lineup. I wish they had more sitcoms. The biggest thing for me, would be if they moved the early morning sitcom block to a later time. I would watch ME-TV all the time, however the shows I want to see are on too early in the morning.

I agree that M*A*S*H, Bonanza and Gunsmoke are overplayed! I am so glad, the affiliate here in Green Bay doesn't mess with the schedule! No infomericals here, just all ME TV programming!

I don't think it's JTS. As long as it continues to play classic shows it will be fine. I can't see a lot of shows because of my affiliate either. I like Gunsmoke and Big Valley but they could be given a rest as they're on other networks. I wish they would have changed their overnight lineup too. But then again Antenna TV didn't really change much for my taste either. They should air BM and Benson during the week. I guess you can't have everything but as long as they still air classics, they're okay in my book.

ME-TV has a long ways to go before it jumps the shark. If they start showing daily marathons of 'Friends' and 'Everybody Loves Raymond', then we can start looking for the shark to circle.

When it starts to add shows from Canada from the '90s and such, then you can JTS.....like RTV did. If they add anything beyond the 80s in American TV, I'd say JTS, because it is just way too soon for any of those to be "retro" or "classic" as I see it (I didn't say anything from that time period wasn't good--so don't jump down my throat)

I'm not ready to go that far yet but they have definitely had a "sh*tty summer schedule on top of not adding any new sitcoms

Really you're asking this when it's probably the best classic tv station around, seriously

When it becomes like TVLAND then I might agree

Well the summer schedule has not been good compared to Antenna TV and Me-TV has not added any new classic sitcoms.

You don't like The New Zorro or The Campbells? I agree they are the pitts. Anything from the 1950's-1980's I consider classic.

I am now spared that...lol. Besides, if maybe they had added Big Brother Jake or Maniac Mansion, I might have cared... Les we forget RTV at one time did rerun The Munsters Today. *shudders*

For the summer, Me-TV had added The Mothers-in-Law and Green Acres. Both sitcoms that have never aired on Me-TV since it went national in late 2010.

For the fall, Me-TV is adding Make Room for Daddy and The Donna Reed Show. These two shows are bonafide classic sitcoms in my book!

Right now, Me-TV is really limited to their programming as their primary agreements are with CBS Television Distribution. Here's a link to their television library: http://syndicationbible.cbstvd.com/

Antenna TV is limited to a primary agreement with the Sony library. I understand that Me-TV and Antenna TV have agreements with Universal and at the moment, both stations are sharing their programming.

A press release from Me-TV has stated that Leave it to Beaver will eventually make its way to Me-TV, perhaps McHale's Navy, The Munsters, Gimme a Break and Kate & Allie will too. We can hope.

This was a blurb from the press release from last September:

"Me-TV continues to define classic television with key acquisitions from the NBCUniversal library including three iconic detective series: 'The Rockford Files,' 'Kojak' and 'Columbo.' In addition, Me-TV viewers will find 'Leave it to Beaver,' 'Dragnet,' 'Adam 12,' 'Boris Karloff's Thriller,' 'The Alfred Hitchcock Hour,' 'Wagon Train,' (both the original 60 minute and 90 minute versions) enhancing the Me-TV schedule over the course of the next few years. Also to air on the network will be 1970's favorite 'Emergency' as well as Raymond Burr's other series, 'Ironside.'"

And/or original programming.---Both Me-TV and Antenna TV are(as mentioned) the best classic channels on TV now. Sure Me-TVs program line-up or schedule may not suit everyones taste all the time, but it's only one channel.
