Sleepy Lou, what happened? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I've been watching the A&C Show again recently, went thru all of Season 1, hilarious and now I'm going thru Season 2. What happened to Lou? Does anyone else have the feeling he's just sleepwalking thru season 2? He's not just low-key, he's downright somnamulist. In season 1 he was full of energy doing classic comedy bits, acting excited with all of his co-stars that crossed his path for a comedy scene. But now in Season 2 his eyes appear to be mostly closed he talks almost in a whisper and in a monotone. He is anything but the energetic funnyman he was in season 1. What happend in the few months in between Season 1 and Season 2 to change Lou so dramatically? From an almost manic character in S.1 to a somnambulist in S.2. Wierd.

Lou Costello was in poor health at that time. Heart problems from a bout of Rheumatic Fever.
