Did James really think that he was starting his own business

I was watching good times last night on the episode when James was fixing everybody's appliances trying to make money; LOL @ Florida charging a customer $0.50 cents a week to pay for services like it was a payment plan and why in the hell did James and Florida go to the bank trying to get a loan with NO paperwork in hand, no nothing to show a plan, while James acting like he was rich with those silly comments smh

I don't see what's so funny about it. Everyone on the planet isn't always so sophisticated; I wouldn't know much about starting my own business, particularly the first time. Let's give them a little slack; it's a television show about a poor family living in the projects in 1970's Chicago. It's not a modern documentary or something. Ease up a little and let yourself enjoy the show.

I love the show and will continue to enjoy the show and yes I will continue to talk about the show, that is what message boards comments are for, however James and Florida knowing that they would NOT have been approved for a loan, Florida NOT working, James barely keep jobs, NO assets and can barely pay the rent living in the projects low income housing, where if anything changes of the household, kids, jobs, income etc. that must be reported to the government when it's a change in income! it's called being realistic!, come on now

Well James knew that he wouldn't get a loan from a bank. At least he tried, but charging .50¢ a week wasn't smart

You certainly have every right to continue talking and posting about the show, and nothing I said in my reply implies anything different.

My point is that you can only expect television shows to be SO realistic, and to continually point out the logical inconsistencies in them is kind of self defeating (i.e, "if it is so incredibly unrealistic, how can you still love it?"). I prefer to take situations like that and try to find a way in which they DID make sense, in other words, to kind of get the writers out of the bind they have obviously gotten themselves into.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Stan Lee and Marvel Comics used to send out what they called "no prizes" to readers who not only alerted them to inconsistencies in their storylines, but went a step further and proposed a solution to the problem that made sense.

Maybe we should do a "no prize" for Good Times?

The poster is enjoying the show that's why she is analyzing the episode on a message board. You know the same way pretend soap operas are real but acting like it is because it's called DISCUSSING situations on the show.

If I was the Admin I would ban posters who stated things like........."It's not real" because it's obvious they have OATMEAL in their head.

That's correct, it's called topic of discussions; for example: on an epsiode when Michael joined the warlords gang after hiding his gang jacket in the oven; JJ found the jacket that said junior warlord and JJ said I am NOT a junior (which he is a junior) and instead of saying, I am NOT a warloard. so yes I am going to discuss that
