TV Terry O'Quinn Says "Lost" Series Finale Was 'Strangely Unemotional' for Him

Terry O'Quinn on the "Lost" Series Finale: Strangely Unemotional Experience
08/20/2012

Terry O'Quinn understands why fans were upset over the "Lost" series finale, but he wasn't too bothered by it.

In an interview with Vulture promoting his new ABC series "666 Park Avenue", O'Quinn said people often ask him about the finale and his take on what happened to the characters.

"The funny thing was my reaction to the ending and the experience of shooting the ending was strangely unemotional," O'Quinn said. "Because we were shooting the last month and I think we were all preparing for this experience to end and it was a big, pretty intense experience."

O'Quinn said to prepare himself for the emotional punch of the series finale, he started operating with "one foot out the door."

"I didn’t ask the writers to give me the clear answer of what every single thing meant," he said. "And I tell people it was clearly about a journey. I was aware in around Season 4 that they had so many balls in the air that they were going to let a few drop. So I was okay with that."

He hit the nail on the head about the writers dropping a few of the balls. There was no way they could please all the viewers with that finale. It wasn't horrible but it could have been better.
It's nice that Terry O'Quinn is staying busy. I've enjoyed seeing him on Hawaii Five-0 and in the last few episodes of Falling Skies. Hope he will do well in 666 Park Avenue this fall.

***SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!****

O'Quinn really delivered the goods on "Lost", and I think the writers really kind of betrayed him with that very unsatisfying ending for his character, John Locke.

I'll be watching "666 Park Avenue". I don't really expect it to be very good, because very few supernatural network shows are, and it's premise seems just like a darker Fantasy Island, but O'Quinn is always worth the price of admission.

Terry O'Quinn is one of my favorite actors. I liked him all the way back to JAG. I'm sure going to watch his new show. I hope it's good.

- so basically he didn't "get" the ending either then...

the writers of LOST betrayed EVERYBODY - the whole final season was a complete cop-out, and proof that they really didn't have a plan for the series from the beginning and even THEY didn't know what was going on. *still bitter*
