Exclamation What did you think of TPIR's 30th anniversary?

I thought it was ooook.....but, it couldve been SOOOOO MUCH BETTER! I was expecting like some of the OLD games that they took away, like the Phone-a-friend (somethin like that) in the 80s. But, it was basically just the Normal Price is Right, with the same games, but slightly better prizes. but, I think it couldve been much better

Mike:You cant ask God for money...believe me, I've tried.

[Doorbell rings]

Ben:Amen! [goes and answers the door, and sees a woman with a can of money]

Charity Lady: Money for the needy?

Ben:THANKS!! [Takes the can, slams the door]

My overal grade....B+ I love Price is Right and it was certanly a lot of fun celebrating the 30 years. Great win in Triple Play to start it off! I wanted her to win the showcase because she could have accumulated close to $100,000! (The 3 cars in Triple Play and the Corvette in the Showcase) Her showcase was over $78,0000! (I played along and bid $70,000!) I was over in the guy's showcase (The moterhome and the other stuff was like $48,000) I would have said $55,000 I thought he bid low for an anniversery special show but he won so that was cool!

Guy was stupid in One Away when he had to change the 3 numbers when he had 2 right. He had the last number a 0 and he changed it to a 2! (Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!) In most cases, car prices are going to end in 5, 0, or sometimes 9. and when changed it I yelled "NO!" (Although sometimes in Money Game or Cover Up a car price will end in a bizzare number so maybe his strategy wasn't that bad!)

My reason for the B+ grade instead of A is, what the hell are rinky dinky Squeeze Play and One Right Price doing on an anniversery special??? DUH! Those are the cheesiest games. I was expecting Golden Road or Punch Board, or even 3 Strikes with like a $40,000+ car. And damn! No Pass The Buck or Let 'Em Roll!? All the games should have big prizes for a big anniversery show like that)

It was very very good but they could have had 2 more BIG prize/payoff games!

I also find it somewhat annoying that the first showcases are almost always cheesy compared to the second showcase...75% of the time, if you are the top winner, you should pass the first showcase. (Unless it's a car or something) but the second showcase is almost always better. The showcase values where $48,000 for the boat and other stuff and the other one was like $78,000 for the corvette. That's a $30,000 difference and for an anniversery show, the showcase values should be more equal especially for something that people have waited so long to see!

I also thought it could have been better. Every player should have had an opportunity to win a car. That in itself would have made the show more memorable and exciting to watch. I know the trend is to select young college age contestants, but did anyone notice that no "old" contestants (save for the older blonde woman) were chosen? I suppose they didn't want to run out of time waiting for them to come on down. LOL

I thought there wasn't too terribly much difference between
the anniversary and the regular shows except the chorus girls
at Bob's entrance during the opener and here and there they
had a few clips from the past.

I couldn't tell you: I missed it & have been wanting to see that in the worst way! I used to live in Las Vegas......now I'm homesick that I left.

I think they probably played games that would be easy to take to Vegas. Some of them would be hard to transport, such as 3 strikes. I don't know how big the board really is, but it looks big and heavy on TV!

The 25th anniversary special was much better. It had more clips of past episodes, including the infamous "tube top" incident. They showed a clip of a large black woman chasing Bob around the stage after she won $10,000, various clips of contestants picking him up like a child, people running up onstage after being called to come on down, ridiculously high bids, and some clips of Janice Pennington way back when as well as the late Johnny Olsen.
