Default Observations about the end of Part 1.."J.J becomes a man

Observation 1

why would florida and james gift wrap a sweater for J.J's Birthday when they knew how much he wanted the art supplies? Why not just tell him straight up like a man since he was turning 18. I;m sure he wouldn't have cried once he found out

Observation 2

When Monty was telling Thelma the news about J.J why was he whispering and they were the only ones in the hallway?

Observation 3

Why the hell would Florida tell Thelma and Michael to go and do their homework right after a birthday party for J.J?

Observation 4

It was obvious that J.J was mad about not getting the gift he wanted which is why he left the house so fast

Observation 1
1. That's all they had and could only afford was a sweater, so they wrapped the sweater gift to look good and...could NOT afford the art supplies so they kept it moving
Observation 2
2. Maybe Monty was whispering because he did not want Florida or James to hear the bad news after he saw that they were having a good time dancing and yes the door was closed, however in the projects the walls are very thin and you could hear a pin drop

Observation 3
3. Think about it, there was nothing else to do after the party when JJ left, therefore why would Thelma go cook and maybe Michael did not want to go outside to play, I am sure Florida would have NOT said, Michael go outside and play after the miserable birthday party, so if Florida did NOT say anything, it would have been complete silence. lol:

Observation 4
4. EXACTLY, especially after he looked everywhere for the surprise art supplies and could NOT find it, only getting that pitiful looking sweater, I would have left too, however NOT to the liquor store with NO money..

Well then they should have given him the sweater the same time they told him they couldn't get the art supplies. They made it worst by pretending to give him the supplies and have him see that it was only a sweater.

It was no way James and Florida would have heard Monty and they were no where near the door

Even if it was nothing else to do it sounded silly for a kid to go from party mode to homework mode

And Yes he that was a DUMB A$$ gift and should have never been gift wrapped. That's like a kid in 2012 expecting a IPOD and getting a pack of underwear instead when your parents gave you hints that the IPOD was coming

Well they should have kept things quiet like my mom did if they knew money was tight and have the art supplies be a SURPRISE

The Evans wasn't even part of the "working poor", they were "POOR" so they were in no position to get their kids hopes up knowing that they had little money

J.J wasn't suppose to know about the art supplies, it WAS suppose to be a surprise. J.J nosed around and found out about what James and Flo were trying to get him, just like he found out what Thelma, Micheal and Willona got him.

What if Florida or James did NOT get their kids hopes up having plenty of money and got them a gift that they knew the kids wanted; however the kids did not show any interest because they wanted something else instead, is it the parents fault because the kids changed their mind for something different, after the parents got them exactly what the parents knew what the kids wanted?

It sounded like he expressed what he wanted to james and Florida because how else would they know what to get him?

That sweater really did stink as a gift. You could tell it took no thought at all, so I don't blame JJ for being upset. Even if he wasn't expecting art supplies, I imagine he would still be upset.

What does that have to do with anything? Just because your children want something doesn't mean that they will get it.

J.J knew that James and Florida did the best that they could with what they were working with.

So what is the difference if Florida and James only could buy as a back up gift a pair of pants, a hat, shoes, pj's, blanket or socks when the art supplies was NOT a gift at all and you know dam well he was not getting a, bike, car nor a tv set, so whats left to buy that they could only afford? ?

Something connected to his passion like......"one paint brush" or something else to add to his art hobby. Maybe they should have used the money they spend on that nasty a$$ looking CAKE.

That cake looked like sweet SH*T
