Cheryl and I were chatting the other day and I asked her what she thought Komack and those guys would have done had Jack passed away before Freddie.
What do you all think? Do you think they would have canceled the show as they should have when they lost Freddie or what? Just curious

This is a very interesting topic. I think it would have went on for a while at least just like they tried to keep it going after Freddies death. If anyone could pull it off it would have been Freddie but to me they both made the show together as a team. I think Freddie would have eventually went on to do other things.
I wish he did go on to do other things......

Cheryl said she thought maybe Freddie would have moved up to play the man and they would have brought in someone else to play the chico type charecter. That is when I think Gabriel would have been good-with Chico, not as a replacement

You know........ I've never ever wondered about this question but, now that you asked....... I believe they would've had Freddie take over the garage and had a friend maybe Mando as part owner. Those 2 had great chemistry too. Unfortunely it was the Prinze of comedy who left us first.

Freddie was a very sensitive individual. While I am sure he would want to be professional and carry on with his obligations to CATM, I dont think his heart would be in it without Jack. If you watch the last episodes with Jack and Raul, I dont really think Jacks heart was it in either. The two were very close and while Jack was a seasoned professional and probably was better able to deal with the loss of Freddie, I am not so sure an emotional individual such as Freddie would have been as successful at that task, tho I am sure he would do his best.

I agree that Freddie would have not went on without Jack. They
loved each other so that he would have been too devasted. Freddie had a lot of other irons in the fire. He would have continued with his stand-up routine and perhaps down the road had a show of his own. I think he would have made an excellent Johnny Carson replacement had he lived. He had great wit and charm and would have made an excellent host. Oh well...such is life. If only!!! |

I agree with the ladies that felt that Freddie would not have gone on with the show without Jack. I think that the loss of his great friend and co-star would have shattered him. I also feel that he would have appealed to the producers to cancel the show out of respect for Jack. He was very sensitive and caring. Although the utmost in professionalism, I think he would have made them see that the appropriate thing to do would be to let their fine work together stand as a testament to Jack.
