Default Can This Really Be True?

I was on You tube and wanted to watch a video that used to be on you tube, but was removed because of copyright issues in the U.S. But I was told by someone that even though YT is doing that to allot of videos, I could actually access a server, for a fee, that would reroute my computer through another country so i could watch U.S blocked videos on you tube. Has anyone heard about this? And is it even safe to use a server in another country?

I'd be extremely leery of paying a fee. Try going through a site that has a proxy from another country and it will look like you are viewing from that country. If it is copyright infringement I doubt seriously they just leave it up and block one country rather than just taking it down and being done.

if a copyright take-down notice is issued to YouTube they remove the video, they don't just block it in the U.S., so right there it tells you that something is wrong.

there are free proxy servers you can use, like Tor - I would try something like that before paying for anything, and even then it doesn't make a lot of sense; more often you'll find sites that won't let you view the video if you are from another country not the other way around. (I sometimes have to find a UK -server to view BBC videos on their site.)

Thanks RobyRob. Yeh I was thinking that when he told me, that if it was blocked maybe it was removed too.
