We watched "M*A*S*H" when they lost a character we liked and replaced him with one we didn't like . We watched "M*A*S*H" when we thought they were trying too hard with the "anti -- war" theme, and when it took itself too seriously . We watched "M*A*S*H" when we thought it ran out of steam . There are some of who thought it never did run out of steam . When "M*A*S*H" lost a character and they replaced him, we tuned out, but we tuned back in . We watch the re -- runs over and over again, either on TV or on DVD . In your opinion, what is it about "M*A*S*H" that keeps us coming back ?

I love absolutely everything about MASH. It is the funniest show in the history of TV. I would also say it's a great drama. MASH covered it all. It could make you laugh so hard you peed your pants. Or it could make you cry your eyes out. They did a great job of replacing characters. Sure I liked Henry slightly better than Sherman. But Sherman was great in his own right and, the same thing goes With Trapper and BJ. I liked them both. In the case of Frank and, Charles I preferred Charles. But Frank made a great villain. The entire cast at all times had a great chemistry. It was a group of friends trapped in the middle of a war saving lives. It doesn't get any better than that.In my honest opinion MASH never had a bad episode. In a world full of the imperfect . I don't knit pick over great things like MASH.

I think its the fact that it is both funny and dramatic. The characters were realistic, you saw them grow and change through out the show's run, and you saw the events that changed some of these people.
I myself go through little periods of where I watch it like crazy because they always show like three or four episodes at a time and then go a while without watching it. No matter how long I go without watching it all though, I know I'll go back to watching it. |

MASH is one show I never get sick of. It could be both funny (mainly the early seasons, but the later years had a few funny ones too especially the two parter in season ten "Snap Judgment") and dramatic (as most of the later years were). I have the series on DVD and yet will still catch the odd rerun on TV Land if I happen to run across it.

I enjoyed reading all the comments in the thread, and couldn't have expressed it better myself. For me, M*A*S*H ranks right up there as one of the top Sitcoms of all time.
