I like the shorter version better than the longer version, but a version a LITTLE longer than the shorter one would have been good.

Actually there are three versions, the short one, the medium and the long version. When Golden Girls aired on NBC the medium version was used for, as far as I know, every episode. On Lifetime, the short version is used for most episodes while the long version and the medium version can be heard on a select number of episodes.

On Lifetime, all episodes use the short version except:

# 12 The Return of Dorothy's Ex: long version
# 31 Joust Between Friends: long version
# 41 The Stan Who Came to Dinner: long version
# 52 Bringing Up Baby: long version
# 56 Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself: long version
#129 Blanche Delivers: medium version

There are more but I just can't remember them all.

Also, on NBC and in syndication for seasons 5-7 different scenes where shown for Rue and Estelle's opening credits. For Rue they used a scene from the episode Sophia's Choice where she's talking about having her breasts enlarged and for Estelle they used a scene from (I pretty sure it's from) High Anxiety when Sophia's telling a story at the kitchen table. On Lifetime, for all episodes, they use the opening scenes NBC used from seasons 2-4. I have no idea what scenes where used for the 1st season, they where only shown in it's original run on NBC.

I love the longer version because I love the lyrics "if you threw a party" too and seeing the girls through the years. I have a CD that has "Thank you for Being a Friend" on it sung by the writer, and I just love all of the lyrics to it. It's a really great song!

I like the longer version cause I love the clips from the one where they dance, and the one where Dorothy and Rose enter a song writing contest! Those are some of my FAVE eps!

I like the longer version. I love the Golden Girls, not to critize but I dont understand why you would like the short version just to get to the show, I mean, the show is always gonna be there. I love theme songs anyway. They really add touch and class to shows. Like I love the Will & Grace one. They do a short clip of the show, then they do theme song. And the short scene is usually really funny, and its a nice entrance to the show, and so comes the theme song, to say, thats Will & Grace, ur wathcing this great show. I think the Theme song represents what the show is all about. Plus alot of times it helps u tell what season ur gonna be watching off the bat. Like Growing Paines or the Facts of Life. In growing paines, the style changed, and as the show came to its end, they had a nice accapella version, and with such style to. I showed that that show earned it. That the show did and went through so much. And how much they change and can change, y a know. And FOL, I watchinng the theme, I can know what area im in of the show. Weather or not there at school or edinas edibles or the dollar store shop or if Cloris Leachmen is one, who i love. A theme says so much. And Like I said its a great introduction to the show.

Default Golden Palace

I really love the Golden Palace theme song to. The way it sounded, showing that the girls are now in a new situation. If you go to the Golden Palace place on this site where u listen to the theme song, you can view the actual theme of the Golden Palace, actually see it, its pretty neat.

Dorothy's first time visit to The Golden Palace Hotel.

Cab Driver: Lady, I was countin' the fare and I think you forgot the tip.

Dorothy: Let's see a tip. A Tip? Let's review your performance. Shall We? You ran over my luggage, took the freeway during rush hour, and stopped the cab twice to sell fruit out the back of your trunk. A Tip...Leave now and no one gets hurt!

Cool

I guess I need to get a life,,but I really get excited when they play the longer version of the theme song. It kinda gets me pumped up for the show.

I've always liked that song and clipz from the shows are always good.

It always makes it easier for me to know which season is playing by the theme..when watching 'Designing Women' or 'Facts of Life' I can always tell which season the ep comes from by watching the opening theme.
