Someone made a poetry thread awhile back, and I enjoyed reading them all. Please feel free to share some of your favorite poems. Whether written by established poets, random strangers, friends, family, even your own work, please share. This one was written by my brother on Facebook recentely.

A quiet calm, now roaring thunder, the lightning strikes, pain times one hundred, your loving smile, your gentle face, my life transformed, a peaceful place, took then for granted, what you were, my selfish being, I went too far, I lied and hid, strayed far away, from what we were, on that first day, pulled far from you, and lovely child, thought just of me, my mind then wild, In one fell swoop, threw all away, thought by myself, meant better days, instead I found, a broken heart, the pain so tough, us now apart, but must go on, for baby girl, now so alone, lost half my world, the other half, so loves us both, and will be strong, so fast she grows, so strong she is, us still apart, because in her, grows both our hearts, so when one day, my wrongs I right, I hope it's you, I kiss goodnight. - Richard Russ
