Eek Do You Think There Will Be Metal Detectors at Movie Theaters From Now On?

After the Colorado shooting incident, News reports have said that there might be metal detectors installed at movie theaters to prevent mass shootings like the Colorado massacre from happening. it would be kind of unnerving to have to walk through a metal detector just to watch some movies at the movie theater.

A metal detector wouldn't have made a difference in Aurora. The gunman re-entered the theater from an exit door he'd propped open several minutes earlier.

They might put metal detectors on all of the doors, including the exits.

that fire exit should have been alarmed - if someone opens it, the fire alarm is supposed to go off and the place would have been evacuated while he was running back out to his car to go get his guns.

You said it, Janet. Supermarkets next.
At this rate, we should all stay closed up in our houses. Don't invite anyone in, can't be sure they are all right.

Can you post a link to at least one of these news reports?

I would think schools would get them before movie theaters. I doubt it happens though.

Schools, especially high schools and middle schools in most major cities, have had metal detectors for years. That being said, their success rate is debatable.

As a previous poster stated, metal detectors wouldn't have prevented the Aurora tragedy, but an alarm on the fire door would have put a kink in that loser's plans.

We can't hide from the filth of society, or else we let them win. The shooting in Colorado motivated me and many others to go out to the theaters last weekend to show that we aren't afraid to live our lives.

I certainly wouldn't be against it, but my guess is that some will and some won't, just like when all the school shootings of the late 90's happened, many schools did start adding metal detectors, while some didn't. I think many of the larger and better known theatres will, while the rest most likely won't. If after over a decade has passed, and all schools haven't implimented metal detectors after all the shootings that have occurred, then I seriously doubt all movie theatres will add them after this one tragic incident.

I agree the Rear Exits should be Alarmed, and if the alarms go of Ushers would IMMEDIATELY direct everyone to evacuate.

The sad reality is that nowhere is 100% safe.

We shouldn't let that fear interfere with our everyday lives though.
