Larry Hoppen, a founding member of the band, whose recognizable tenor voice sang lead on hits like “Still the One,” and “Dance With Me,” died on Tuesday. He was 61 years old. “We’re deeply saddened by this news, and our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Hoppen’s family, friends and everyone who has been touched by this wonderful artist over the years,” said Robin Zaremski, executive director of Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks, through a news release. “We are in the process of looking for another artist to perform and we hope to make that announcement tomorrow.” Larry was still touring with Orleans and was also scheduled to appear on Fox TV's nationwide "Fox & Friends' All-American Concert Series" show on Friday. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith Hoppen and his daughters, Claire and Maeve, as well as his bothers, Lance and Lane and his sister, Lynda. The family asks that since Larry passion was feeding hungry people, his friends and fans can honor his memory by making a contribution to their local food bank in his name. |

Who remembers "Still the One" being used as ABC's theme song for their fall season, around 1977 or 1978? Great song by a great band.

Sad to hear this I always thought he had one of the most unique pop voices ever. "Still the One" is timeless.
