I think Sierra wound up on Miami Vice as the Lt. but was killed off in the first season- not sure how many episodes he was in but he was replaced by Edward James Olmas as Castillo, one of my favorite characters and the rest is history.

My fav role he did besides det. amengual was when he was that general on SOAP --- el puerco (spelling? pwhere-ko)

oh yeah, i forgot about that! havent seen sanford and son for sooooo long. I know its on in chicagoland. man, i remember my brothers used to have 8 tracks of some episodes <G>
