Oh No Practical Jokes (Going too Far)

I've had 2 instances this week where a practical joke has been played on me by the same person. Let's see if anyone here thinks they were funny.

The first happened on Monday. My niece who is 2 years old had a skin rash and had a Dr. appointment that day. Her mother (the practical joker) asked if I could take them because their car wasn't available. I agreed and also let her drive since she knew where to go. When we got there, she said that I would need to stay in the car with my niece while she went inside and did the paperwork and then when it was her turn, she would come and get her. This was done because they thought she might have chicken pox and she couldn't be around other kids. she took pictures of her legs to show the Dr. We got out of the car and walked around and a few minutes later her mother comes running outside yelling that she has the flesh-eating disease and she needed to go to the hospital right now! so I got back in the car and was ready to go and she said ha-ha just kidding. I was about ready to strangle her at that point. She thought it was funny but I didn't see the humor in it.

The second one happened today. My girlfriend's mother had a Dr's appointment and we took her. After we left, we had to stop at CVS and the store to pick up a prescription and some drinks. When we went in the store, my niece and her mother were there shopping also. She was driving one of those grocery carts that looks like a car and the minute she saw me she wanted me to hold her. Her mom unbuckled her and she held her arms out to me. I told her mom that I was going to take her outside and surprise her grandmother who was waiting for us in the car. She said ok and as we started to leave, she yelled HEY! HEY! MY BABY! Next thing I knew some woman had her cell phone out and said she was calling 911 and 2 store employees came to investigate because they thought I was trying to abduct my own niece. She had to explain to all concerned that I was the child's uncle and that I was only taking her outside to see her grandmother. The woman who called 911 had to call them back and cancel the request and the nearly red-faced employees apologized to me. I honestly don't think I've ever been more humiliated than I was today. I'm not mad at the woman for calling 911 nor the employees because they did what anyone would've done under those circumstances but I am extremely hurt that someone would go that far to play that kind of prank especially when it involves someone I would never harm. I don't know what they said to the mother, we went outside while they talked to her.

The first one is not to bad, but the second one that had the lady calling 911 and the two employees reacting the way they did could of caused some trouble for you with the police. I think your niece needs to cool it with the practical jokes.

The first one wasn't the least bit funny considering how much I love my niece and it's the mother playing the jokes.

Sorry you went through those two situations. Practical jokes are awful.

I had a teacher in high school who worked specifically with blind and visually impaired students. He used to think it was so funny to trip us and watch us fall. Also he would take ice and put it down the back of one student who was completely blind. Another time he put lotion on the doorknob and told a student it was mayonaise and to taste it. He also used to pull chairs out from students right before they would go to sit down so they would hit the floor instead. I never liked him.

Sounds to me like you owe her at least 2 practical jokes. Let her know how it feels.

I used to pull things like this when I was younger, but I grew out of this type of humor.

I'm not either,I like telling jokes. But you have to admit, there are people out there who are deserving of them.

Charles, that's just awful. She sounds like a real piece of work. What did your girlfriend think of this yesterday, at CVS? I think you need to have a serious talk with this person and let her know that you're not on this earth for her amusement. Personally, I would tell her that if it happens again, you'll cut ties with her.

Actually, it happened at the grocery store. CVS was closed due to a power failure but anyway, my girlfriend wasn't happy about it and her brother (the child's father) was absolutely furious when he found out. Her mother really doesn't take very good care of her. She's 2 years old and walks around all day in a diaper and she will not change her until she's good & ready. I've gone to their house and seen her walking around in a soiled diaper while her mother pounds away on the laptop. I asked her one day if she wanted me to change her and her reply was no, I'll do it later. I then asked how long she'd been walking around in it and she said since about 8:00am and it was past noon so at least 4 hours but her logic was that the diapers had 8 hour protection and she wanted to get the full use out of them. By the way, the rash I mentioned earlier turned out to be sand flea bites she got during a recent visit to Boston.

Sorry to hear that Charles. that's terrible that your niece has to go around for up to eight hours with a dirty diaper.

No, but I hope he enventually did. He was considered "popular" because people saw him as a jokester even though he was a teacher. I tried once telling his boss, but it didn't work. Too many people seemed to like him. I, for one, saw nothing funny with the practical jokes he pulled.

Thanks and you're right, it was very childish of him. I don't think he should have been allowed to work with blind/visually impaired students, or students at all for that matter.

She sounds like a very sick and toxic person to me. There's a lot of underlying sadism and aggression in her behavior. I like Janice's advice if you feel up to it. I think the less you see of this "practical joker" the better.

I think he should dump the psycho NOW. Why give her another chance to humiliate him? And why should he be around this selfish and neglectful mother? Her baby walks around in dirty diapers all day. How else is she neglecting this poor kid? Maybe someone should call Child Protective Services on her and see how she likes being targeted.
