Default Not so many dream sequences

I always thought there was a lot of dream sequences in the show. Not that I mind them. I find it's a great chance to see the characters as different people and in different surroundings. Mary Ann in "V for Vitamins is a prime example. But it turns out there was only 14 from the 98 episodes. 3 from the first season, 5 from the second season and 6 from the third.
I'm referring to dreams only. Not flashbacks or hypnotic trances and such.

1. "Sound of Quacking"
Gilligan is a sheriff protecting his duck.
2. "St. Gilligan and The Dragon"
The men dream about the women.
3. "My Fair Gilligan"
Gilligan is a spoiled heir.
4. "The Little Dictator"
Gilligan is a puppet leader.
5. "The Sweepstakes"
Mr Howell is a prospector.
6. "The Postman Cometh"
Mary Ann has mushroom poisoning.
7. "V for Vitamins"
Gilligan is Jack form “Jack and the Beanstalk.”
8. "Meet the Meteor"
The castaways have aged 50 years.
9. "Up At Bat"
Gilligan is a vampire.
10. "The Invasion"
Gilligan is a secret agent.
11. "And Then There Were None"
Gilligan is “Jekyll and Hyde”
12. “Court Martial”
Gilligan is Lord Admiral Gilligan.
13. "Lovey's Secret Admirer"
Mrs Howell is Cinderella
14. "The Secret of Gilligan's Island"
Gilligan is a caveman

Interesting. I too would have thought the number of dream episodes would have been closer to 20 or so.

My favorite are the vampire dream and the secret agent dream.

Mine too. I also like the Jekyll and Hyde one as well.

Interesting that Ginger never had a dream and only one dream included a visitor to the island.

I think it was in Sherwood Schwartz's book he said that the cast loved doing them so much and had their been a fourth season of the show they would have had even more dream sequences. The Sweepstakes is my favorite one.

I don't recall ever having seen "The Sweepstakes", but it's funny reading about Mr. Howell as a prospector, since Jim Backus later played a prospector on The Brady Bunch, when the Bradys were travelling to the Grand Canyon.

14 out of 98 episodes (fully 1/7 of the total) is still pretty high for a sitcom, considering that The Dick Van Dyke Show only have 5 in 5 seasons, and even The Brady Bunch had a few dream sequences, always by Bobby. I wish that the mad scientist episodes had been dream sequences. Since they were not, they officially made Gilligan's Island a supernatural fantasy series, similar to Bewitched. I was also dismayed when Happy Days was turned into a fantasy series by its Mork appearances (The original airing made Mork a dream, but syndication changed that.) and later by the backdoor pilot that introduced Random, the angel from Out of This World.

He looks and acts very similar in both shows. On GI though he hasn't had a bath in forty years
