...but a company announces a complete series box set, how do you handle it? I'm talking specifically about Shout! Factory recently announcing that the All in the Family Complete Series Box Set will be released this October. I currently own seasons 1-6 and I was just about to order seasons 7-9, when I saw that the complete series was available for pre-order. Amazon said that there would be special features on this box set, unlike the individual season sets. Personally, I'm really big on special features and I was very impressed with Shout! Factory's Leave it to Beaver Complete Series set. Should I try and sell the seasons I already own and purchase the complete series or should I just buy seasons 7-9 and have all the episodes, albeit on separate box sets and without the special features? What would you all do?

I think it depends on the price and what you're getting in the boxed set. I've always bought seasons individually. I have all 9 seasons of Seinfeld and then they announced the box set. The only reason I'd want the box set is to watch whatever extras aren't on the individual DVD seasons. There is a round table discussion that is on the individual DVD's but the whole thing is on the box set. But it's not really worth the money to me to go out and buy the huge thing. Now if it were a show that didn't' have very many seasons and I hadn't bought any of them, I might buy the entire series.
But seriously before you decide to sell your individual ones, make sure you're not getting less with the boxed set and have at least the same number of extras |
