This documentary was made by the Fifth Estate in 1981, and chronicles the story of Eric Wilson and his family. Eric disappeared while driving to Colorado from Ottawa in 1978. Law enforcement agencies on neither side of the border (including the FBI) could be bothered to help, and passed him off as a "runaway". Eric's family had to hire a private investigator before they finally found out what exactly happened to him.

This documentary is very well made, and evoked emotion without having to resort to any graphic material. It won the Oscar in 1982 for Best Documentary Feature, and was the basis of a t.v movie called Into Thin Air.

I whole heartedly recommend this one.
