Details About 'Grimm' Season 2

The panel: David Giuntoli (Nick Burkhardt), Russel Hornsby (Hank Griffin, Bitsie Tulloch (Juliette Silverton), Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe), Reggie Lee (Sgt. Wu), Sasha Roiz (Sean Renard), Bree Turner (Rosalee Calvert), Jim Kouf (executive producer/writer), David Greenwalt (executive producer/writer), Norberto Barba (executive producer/director), Sean Hayes (executive producer) and Todd Milliner (executive producer).

Big revelations: Not many. The whole Grimm gang must have had a strict no-spoilers talk beforehand because none of them were very forthcoming. Lots of questions were met with variations on “You’ll have to wait and see.” Kouf at one point said, “We have a lot of ideas where we want to go with it. We just don’t want to tell you.” Even things that we thought were done deals had an air of mystery breathed into them. On what’s next for characters who have had the Wesen world revealed to them, Greenwalt said, “Who said Hank finds out? And who said Juliette remembers?”

Footage screened: But after all the non-answers, the crowd was treated to the first act of the season 2. We also got to see a new creature — one with black and white stripes covering his furry face and two big, sharp teeth poking out of the sides of his mouth. But more importantly, the show returns to the ending of season 1, this time with some shots from Nick’s mom’s perspective as she sneaks into his house. A little talk with Mama Burkhardt reveals that Aunt Marie did know that she was alive. And then we get the typical “it was to protect you” talk — but that doesn’t do any good to calm down a teary-eyed Nick. As for why dental records couldn’t reveal that the woman in the car accident wasn’t Nick’s mother (it turns out it was a friend of hers, Jeana) — whoever was after his parents took Jeana’s head.

Obvious fan favorite: If it wasn’t already clear on various message boards over the past season, it was definitely evident in the room that Mitchell’s portrayal of Monroe has quite the fan club. He got the biggest cheers when he appeared on the season 1 recap video screened at the beginning of the event and when he was introduced on the panel.


Unintended theme of the panel: Confusion. Tulloch displayed her skills at morphing into Juliette’s confused face. Mitchell made fun of her maneuvering through Portland (where the show is shot and set) with a mocking “Which way is the Whole Foods?” Then, at the end of the panel moderator Alison Haislip was attempting to explain NBC’s air night-switching roll-out of premieres for the 2012-2013 season, provoking a wave of murmurings in the audience. The cast seemed befuddled by the Olympics-motivated plan too as they all turned to each other to figure out what this meant. Mitchell — always the encyclopedic information-provider as Monroe on the show — seemed to be on top of it, using a series of hand motions to explain the premiere schedule.
